I find todays incessant chatter
has become a stressful matter
it seems that all around are voices
that never stop to give us choices
whether in conversation with friends
or tv shows, the chatter never ends
especially media people, talk so fast
without  a breath, how do they last
thank God the remotes have a mute
I find the constant noise to be acute
I'm listening to media less and less
even radio, I don't need the duress
relying on my own cd's for music
the news online is quite prolific
other than movies I don't watch tv
the sweet gift of silence satisfies me
the world is now such a noisy place
Tylenol for headaches takes first place

ET

This is excellent writing, a great topic many to can relate to, and an example of perfect form. Again, you have mirrored my own sentiments exactly. It's as though you are writing about my life. Amazing. Keep up the good work. I really enjoy reading your poetry.

The noise you describe so eloquently has risen to the point it has driven me from my book writing. Time to simplify once more.

How true this is! I indulge in total silence when alone in the house. No radio, no TV, just my thoughts and me.
Well written,

I gave up most tv a long time ago. I even only watch movies for the most part that are on stations with no commercials. that drives me nuts also. How did we survive before cable. Lady J

I agree!!!! I was at a restaurant sitting at the bar trying to eat a quick dinner before I went back out into the mall to finish Christmas shopping, and this woman next to me would stop talking to her friend, it was so annoying... anyway, awesome poem, ET

How so very true, and silence truly is golden once in awhile.

For young people the world is still less noisy but for those who are mature enough to know the husk from the grain find certain things like TV too wasteful. I like the wisdom of this poem. GBQ

You said it, Eileen...each time I turn it on...it is the same old thing over and over...buzz over the celebrities or whatever...if it were not for the media...most celebrities would not be celebrated at all. My belief is the media makes the stories and keeps it all on the front burner so they always have something to chatter about....even those who have no talent at all but their name is front page news.

Don't mind people talking, if they had something worth talking about. My best friend in point: she talks about the same old thing, time after time...sad. Don't want to hurt her feelings, but I've heard it (and heard it and heard it) before. What do I do? An excellent, thought provoking write: I'll hush now. :) Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Hope your headache gets better.

I don't like it when people keep chattering on and on, especially about stupid stuff that amkes no sense or talk about their health problems or how depressed they are; I don't need to hear thtat stuff! Very well penned; brava! And you can talk to me anytime!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

I agree with you 100% Eileen
The station I listen to weather on
has hired a new weather woman.
She talks so fast it's hard
to make any thing out of what she says.
I love the quiet.
TV is just too redundant.
Love ya Eileen.

I don't want to add to additional chatter, and wish you peace!
