Keeping Christ in Christmastide

We've heard all the people cry about the war on Christmas and Keeping Christ in Christmas. Well, according to the centuries old tradition, we've just finished Advent and now are in the season of Christmas -- called "Christmastide" by many. It is the twelve days of Christmas. I've noticed so many who shouted the loudest move on and leave Christ out of the Christmastide season.

Gifts are unwrapped room is a mess
“So let’s clean up this old pigpen!”
And all the family pitches in
to put things in order again.

Put the decorations away
and throw away that dry old tree
then we will run back to the mall
and join in the big shopping spree.

Sadly this happens ev’ry year
by those who were so very loud
who complained over and over
with the “keep Christ in Christmas” crowd.

Christmas begins on Christmas Day
but they are ready to move on
and the twelve days of Christmas
are here but our Jesus is gone.

This is not the fault of the PC
or other people we have blamed.
It is because we have ignored
the Yule season so unashamed.

Just the once I come to beg you
to keep the Christ in Christmastide.
Take the spirit of the Advent
and let it in your heart reside.

Yes! Again, right on the mark. When this "crowd" yells, I too want to remind them that there is a whole season during which to wish Happy HOLY-DAYS to all!

...thank you Larry for your honest thoughts in pen...of those who forget...you remind...and hope that they might hear.
I am listening...

It is a shame how we are moving towards a godless culture! Thank you for reminding us what truly counts, Larry! A wisdom message in your poem!

How very sadly true.

Christmas should be all year 'round. Won't be if we forget THE Reason for the Season: an excellent reminder, well done, Larry.

(((HUGS))) and love, and Merry Christmas,

Karla.

We must remember the historical significance of Christmas and what it truly means; I choose to keep Christ IN my Christmas celebration, refuse to fall into the commercialism trap. If anyone doesn't like me saying "Merry Christmas", I still wish them one, no question. I have no problem with it, and nobody's told me otherwise. Until they do, I will NOT stop saying it, and if they DO tell me to stop, I'll STILL continue to do it! Merry Christmas to you and yours, Larry, and God bless you mightily; He has been doing a very good job of that in our family! :D It's been nothing short of miraculous this Christmas for us!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Today God's provided again, and our daddy got released from the hospital this morning (he went in Friday). Pray for continued healing/strength on his part! Thanks! :) (Our daddy lives in Ohio.)

Your are absolutely right and when we lose sight of why Christ was born all the allelujahs mean naught if we don't carry them the whole year through.

A moving and spiritual piece of advice that each of us should embrace every day of our lives.

Merry Christmas. God bless you and your family. Kathy
