AS ROSAS NÃO FALAM

by Cartola,

new words by Joel Sattler

New title: “The Roses Don’t Speak”

There was a time

When I still had a hope in my heart

Back in summer when August did come

to end

Came to the garden

Knowing there would be tears in my eyes

Knowing that you’d never come back to me

Once again

I speak to roses

The roses don’t speak back to me

They only can set free the perfume

That you wore in my first memory, ah….

You should have come

Come to see what was left in my eyes

Come to dream what was left of my dreams

for me

Original lyrics in Portuguese by Cartola:

Bate outra vez

com esperanças no meu coração
Pois já vai terminando o verão

em fim.

Volto ao jardim

com a certeza que devo chorar
Pois bem sei que não queres voltar

para mim.

Queixo minhas rosas,

mas que bobagem as rosas não falam
Simplismente as rosas isalam

o perfume que roubam de ti, ah…

Devias vir

para ver os meus olhos tristonhos
E quem sabe sonhava meus sonhos

por fim.

Bate outra vez

com esperanças no meu coração
Pois já vai terminando o verão

em fim.

Volto ao jardim

com a certeza que devo chorar
Pois bem sei que não queres voltar

para mim.

Queixo minhas rosas,

mas que bobagem as rosas não falam
Simplismente as rosas isalam

o perfume que roubam de ti, ah…..

Devias vir

para ver os meus olhos tristonhos
E quem sabe sonhava meus sonhos

por fim.

Devias vir

para ver os meus olhos tristonhos
E quem sabe sonhava meus sonhos

por fim.

When the perfume is gone the flower will wither and painful remembrances will take place because happiness last just a flying moment...
