"...Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter..." Martin Luther King(1929-1968)

Today the nation celebrates the birth of Civil Rights Activist, Martin Luther King. I thank God for giving me this inspiration in recognition of such a noble and worthy life. I, along with so many others...with much Pride and Gratitude...thank the Good Lord for Martin's short, but so full Living.

Beloved Eagle

With Golden Wings

That lifted others to 'Victory Sing'

Thus wrested away...you now perch...high

Peering down...with prideful sigh

From 'mountain top' ascended free

Your flight 'not' lost...

In 'vainless' sea

Thank you, Martin...and Happy Birthday!

Blimey, I'm getting old. I can remember them playing the news of his death at school. Until then it hadn't occurred to me that there was supposed to be any difference with other races or colours. I'd not noticed. Yet, even to this day, I am shocked that the country had me loving space through the moon landings could be so petty over something that does not matter. And in the 20th century! Yet my fav group as a kid was the Jackson Five; I saw them as I'd see anyone.

Yet the racism after reading Roots, made me loathe America for the rest of my childhood.

Your poem proves that one man can make a difference in such cultures.

Joyce, this is a fitting tribute to our brother in Christ; to a man who matched his faith with mighty actions, giving His Lord Jesus all the glory.
May your poem and his life inspire us to do likewise.
