May the Lord help the little children who suffer from child abuse. My heart breaks for every child who lives this way. A child's world should be one of toys, laughter, play, hugs and kisses from Mommy and Daddy, not beatings or verbal abuse. You can tear down a child's world by verbal abuse, take away his/her self esteem. Help me with the fight on child abuse. Speak up for the children who are afraid to speak for themselves.

Deep inside myself
So I can't feel
Scars on my heart
That will never heal
I hear the children play
Normal girls and boys
Perfect white houses
Room full of toys

Tear stained sheets
Draped on my bed
Sometimes I wish
That I was dead
Why do they hit me
Don't they see I am small
Does it make them feel big
Or stand ten feet tall

There's a special corner
Deep in my heart
That's where I hide
When the beatings start
I hold everything in
I don't dare let them see
The damage they do
When they're hurting me

I cover my bruises
Swallow my pride
Knowing with every blow
Part of me died
Scared of the shadows
Knowing I can't tell
Wishing someone would come
Rescue me from this hell

I wish we could rescue all of them, Linda. Your realisticaly written poem will bring tears to most viewers, as it did for me. Please, everyone, report anything that even looks like abuse to the authorities, this abuse MUST be stopped. Thank you for writing about this topic, Linda. A powerful write!

To abuse children that's wrong, but to discipline them with care, I think that's correct. Yet we should love children and take good care them; seeing as, they are all like God's little earthly angels. Nice poem, Linda! You'll be blessed.

I am from the old school, sometimes a spanking is neccessary. But that is all. Adults who kill there own children should be boiled in oil.

A very well written and heartbreaking poem. Your right when you say you can tear down a childs world with verbal abuse, I think verbal abuse is not accounted for enough, physical abuse is more likely to be picked up, the scars of verbal abuse are hidden but just as harmful.

After being a father to three little girls (all grown up with children of their own now) and a grandfather as well as a volunteer now in my granddaughters school, it tears at my heart to read and see how cruel these eveil people can be...the death penalty in my mind is not even enough for the demons who do this type of crime.

Linda, my heart aches, cries, and is very angry for these lettle delicate gifts from God, that somehow someone can find pleasure in abusing them! Spiritually, mentally, and physically they muust answer to God for their sick depraved actions. Thank you Linda and I am so grateful to God that He has the final say so in all things. It doesn't matter whether we believe He is or He isn't, God is still on the throne!

It isn't just little girls who are abused. I walked the walk of abuse as a child. It screwed up my way of thinking so much I messed up the lives of three women and three children. By the time I came to grips with myself it was too late to redo what had been done. So yes, abuse goes on much longer than the actual physical part of it. Many men and women who are behind prison bars are languishing there directly and indirectly because of abuse.
