A Dragon Fly
He came to rest
At first, I wasn’t sure
Was he here for a cure?
His wings shivered
He tried to take flight
My Chihuahuas quivered.
A Dragon Fly
Colors of a rainbow
Beauty dies.
Intensely, I watched
Hoping for the best
He just came to rest.

That's okay. Your Chihuahuas were just being dogs. My Pomeranian, Jazz, was a great roach slayer. Unfortunately, Jazz was slain by a Labrador mix.
Besides, there is something sinister about dragonflies that I wrote about in a poem, too.

Dragonflies spend most of their lives in the larva stage (up to three years, depending on the species). The adult, winged stage only lasts a few weeks. Mating is the primary reason for their winged stage. So when you see a winged dragonfly, you know it's toward the end of its lifespan. Sad but true. Love you!
