Personality consists of multiple characteristics. The two most distinguishing ones which define the totality of my livingness in terms of being and functioning are authenticity and originality. Obviously, in the manifestation of these two characteristics others are present, including truth, faith, hope and love.

Bicameral personality as presented here is based on two behavioral characteristics: authenticity and originality. Bicameral does not mean being schizophrenic or schizoid even though to be human in an acculturated society this is unavoidable to some degree. Yet, it is possible to be a fully-functioning person in society, that is for one's personality to  be imbued with authenticity and originality.

Authenticity is the degree to which one is true to one's own personality, spirit, or character, despite external pressures.  When a person is under external pressure his authenticity is more truly revealed, defined and measurable. Genuine individuality results from authentic living. Shakespeare offers insight on this mattter: "...to thine own self be true ,... Thou canst not then be false to any man"  To this add be unafraid, i.e., have courage to be.

Originality is being original. Having the capacity to think or express oneself in an independent manner; creatively and with a freshness. It is being spontaneous and peculiarly oneself.

"Bicameral me: authenticity and originality" is about me, the way I am, the way I think and the way I express myself. But it is also about and defines all people whose personalities are governed by authenticity and originality and those who are in and actualizing process or advancing toward a psychology of being who they potentially are meant to be.

Be yourself. This is not easy in a world where people want to make you somebody else. It is a battle worthy of fighting to win.
Express yourself. Cease masquerading and do not deny your feelings because when you do you deny or apologize for truth.
Love yourself. Accept yourself as you are now and know that you have a right to be here. You are a child of the Creator of everything.

When these three conditions are manifested in your living you possess a bicameral personalitry married to authenticity and originality.

Enjoy your "Aha" moment in the eternal now - today, not tomorrow.
