I’ve been off rounding up a few more starving street orphans.

These sad days, it’s hard to decide which dogs have it worse:

The abandoned, emaciated canines dying on America’s streets,

Or those languishing in overcrowded shelters, awaiting execution.

“America’s animal shelters today are prisons,

Breeding anxiety and depression in homeless pets.

These dogs are forced to live in isolation,

Or in very crowded conditions in tiny cages,

Where they smell the scent of death every day.

They are warehoused, until they are euthanized.”

The Shelter Revolution Movement

On a very recent hot and muggy June day

Jeff Bennett flew off in his four seater plane

His mission: to rescue 23 canines on death row

As part of the ‘Pilots N Paws’ rescue community

Bennett has been air-lifting animals, for more than three years

On this trip, he managed to rescue his 1,000th death row inmate

This grateful dog’s name is Rex, a floppy eared mixed breed pup

Who was given a second chance at life, on this hot summer’s day

The ‘Pilots N Paws’ rescue group takes dogs from ‘kill shelters’

And finds them new homes, with people who are willing to adopt

Over Five Million unloved and unwanted dogs, die every year now

Yet people still buy from breeders and puppy mills that just won’t stop

I salute Mr. Bennett and everyone else involved in the ‘Pilots N Paws’ rescue effort

But I get extremely tired of hearing so many people say they don’t know how to help

Start advocating for an end to atrocious puppy mills and for harsher animal abuse laws

And get involved in a local pet rescue group’s efforts to save dogs from death row hell

Become a Pet Transport Volunteer;

Convince Others to Adopt Not Shop;

And Spay and Neuter Your Own Pets.

“Saving one dog

Won’t change this sad old world,

But the world will definitely change,

For the one dog being saved.”

every time i read you, Ed, hope returns,
there are good people out there, genuinely
good people who aren't try to screw others over
and take away their dignity and their pensions
but are trying to make a difference in a positive way.
You don't need me to tell you keep doing what
you're doing, you're going to do it anyway,
it's the great person you are

Always in admiration

It is chronic these days, as time goes on people become less sensitive to the needs of our animal friends.

This was lovely a great alert to remind others Mr. Ed

hard to fathom we humans at times.

son and family just adopted their small dog, she was on the kill today list when the no kill shelter rescued her. she is a love of a dog.

we have saved a few one by one, doesn't make a dint in the problem, but DOES make a lot of difference to that one pup or cat.

Truly remarkeable people Ed, Who is expending as much effort to close the barn door ( puppy mills) before such rescue missions are necessary, anyone? Where are the dastardly lawmakers, they sure had the opportunities of the many years to do something about it don't you think> Bless ya!

Yay!!! I have never nor will I EVER adopt a pet from a puppy mill...what these breeders do to helpless creatures is morally WRONG! My canine and feline friends have always been rescues and will til I breathe my last breath...I just wish EVERYONE would take a look in the animal shelters and have a heart!
