Don't wake me
Let me sleep and live my dreams
Where wishes come true or so it seems
Where Mommy's smile every day
And there's a place to run and play
Where hugs and kisses are for me
Let me sleep, just let me be

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Don't wake me
Let me dream of a Daddy's kiss
That is something I have missed
Let me build a world all my own
Where Daddy's stay and are never gone
Where Mommy's hug instead of hit
There's no dark corners where I must sit

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Don't wake me
Let me float up on my cloud of white

Where Mommy loves me and we don't fight
Where Daddy's just don't ever leave
Such a beautiful world I can weave
Butterflies dance gracefully in the sun
While I happily play, skip and run

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Don't wake me
No one to love me, No one to care
Nothing but misery awaits me there
I live in the midst of hunger and cold
I am so bad is what I've been told
Let me sleep so my dream won't end
For when I awake my nightmare begins

What a sad poem. Even sadder is that it's happening right now. Hard to believe that we let it.

Linda, this poem is sad and magnificent all weave in one! Just keep writing and praising God! I think you should reconsider writing a book of poetry. As well as you write poetry could substain you! Peace!!!

Unfortunately this is all too common in the childhoods of many poeple from today's children and back to yesterday's child as well. We must stand up for our children! Well stated, Linda, I get the idea you are a strong advocate. Be well, Kathy

Wonderfully crafted, Linda...your work always seems to have a story that runs much farther than what is visible on the surface. Beautiful.

Let's hope that this never happens to a child. That they would wake up to a nightmare rather than a pleasant childhood.

Speaking of a person who has been there Linda, sadly this goes on all too often. I have taken in many a run-away over the years who were sadly hurt and not loved as a child should be.

Excellent you have written this so well and I feel from experience.
