Oh Boys and Girls (or On the War)

*April 2, 2003--just thought I'd open a can of worms, some thoughts on the war.

Oh, boys and girls what do you say?
Are you for the war or against it still?
Can you see them fighting far away;
for an unjust cause or freedon do they kill?

Oh, boys and girls what do you pray?
Do you pray for peace in the Middle East?
Do you pray them to cease or stay?--
for the people who have or will die, ceas'd?

Oh, boys and girls how do you feel?
Relief for the oppressed of Iraq
or angst toward the President's Seal;
for the cause or against a false attack?

Oh, boys and girls how do you perceive--
is it through the media's biased voices?
Do you care what history weaves,
for how we find ourselves in this crisis?

Oh, boys and girls can you not see here,
that a wily man has left us no choice--
that no political talk could clear--
for how force is a necessary evil?
