Valley of the Ancients

they rode into the valley

the valley of the horses

they camped along the rivers

the rivers which flowed freely

they rode into the mountains

the black hills of the sacred rituals

they hunted in the tall grass

the grass of the bluffs and plains

they slept upon the furs

the furs of the deer &  buffalo

they honored their prey

the great tribute of the sacrifice

they lived a nomadic life

they followed the buffalo roaming

they captured the wild horses

the horses upon which they rode

they rode into the battle

the battle with the conquerors

they became the hunted

the warriors became the prey

they bled tears of blood

the blood of their ancestors

they died in great numbers

the numbers of their extinction

they rode into the valley

the valley of the ancients
