Perpetual Motion

The nervousness shadows the heart with a fear
nothing ventured leaves nothing to gain…
Through the eyes of remembering the soul feels a stir
memories opening wounds with the pain.

Like the pendulum ticking in back and forth motion
the past leaves a scar deep inside…
Weaving notions disturbing with rusted remorse
when it comes it’s one hell of a ride.

Crazy train bound for nowhere but lands of deep sorrow
where the rails seem to lead to the same…
Past the bridges we’ve burnt round the bend of forgotten
‘till we’re right back from where we just came.

Pulling shades down around us to hide from the sun
where the windows are bars of our cell…
Been awhile since we’ve been here but not long enough
it’s a sorrow remembered too well.

Maybe life keeps repeating till we get it right
or the end finally justifies means…
Still it’s hard to move on when you’re so tired of trying
to battle the days in between.

Though each moment moves on in a light all its own
when the soul marches steadfastly on…
Surely faith in the face of these demons will win
‘till the past is just buried and gone.
