I Think I'm Gonna Make This One the Last

Yet again, a true story about a really lovely girl I knew, who was a dancer, as well as a part-time prostitute. I knew her pain. She confided in me. I wrote this meloncholy song for her. In a minor key of course. (Those are the sad chords that make you feel like crying) I cried for her, and with her. She knows who she is. I hope she's found happiness now.

Sitting here reading through the chapters of my life;
Exaggerating good times, that have happened once or twice.
I search my soul for reasons for the lonliness inside;
The only answer is I've lived a lie.

Waiting for the phone to ring, a strangers voice to say;
I got your number from a friend, who saw you yesterday.
I know that time can never hide the failings of the past;
I think I'm gonna make this one the last.

The face behind the looking glass, is my only friend;
And in that face I see the truth, I need to love again.
I need to find some comfort for this lonely heart of mine;
I only hope the good Lord gives me time.

I think I'm gonna make this one the last.
I hope I'm gonna make this one the last.
Cos I know that time can never hide the failings of the past;
I need, to make this one the last!

Bless it - very sad the distruction we can bring on ourselves - I dont know enough to know how someone goes past that...

I think another song writer you should get to know is Peter Benson. He's a folk musician and writes gorgeous songs but when he posts them here, he posts them as poem, but you can still hear the music! I love your words, but I'm sure you can dig deeper within your soul and bring out a poem that isn't a song...hehe! Try it, you will love it, and then the music comes from your heart and soul and not just your head...I will admit, its painful but its the only way a good poet can write...Like I said, you are gifted, but you need to dig deeper then just the surface. You have to stand naked for the world to see and that my dear, is hard, very hard to do...
