How a poem is born

It all began with admiration
A touch in the soul folllowed
Something suddenly started to brew
I conceived. I became pregnant.
mood changes became noticeable.
my eyes no more lovely to my child
I was rushed to a maternity clinic
Instead of the normal birth canal
the baby came through the head
it was a poem.

Lol. Intriquing prespective. I think a poem is born not just merely by the head but by heart and soul and is born on paper. A real treat this one is.

BRILLIANT work!

Wonderful metaphor! Excellent poem! The birthing process is very close to what a poet goes through. I once did a poem on being pregnant with words and how relieved we are when they are finally born;-)

Ah, perfect metaphor for us writers: for, indeed, we birth our poems and prose, then nurture and protect it like a baby; daring anyone to harm it. Grrrr! Excellent, Abdi. ~~Bonnie Q
