A Grunt Remembers Lush green jungles Torrential rains Rice paddies Endless patrols on narrow trails Mosquitoes big enough to carry you off Sand bags and barbed wire Incoming!!! Distant gunfire and artillery twenty four-seven Boredom, mail call, news from home Perimeter guard Charlie's in the wire!!! Gut wrenching fear Kill or be killed God, Help Me!!! Freedom bird...... The nightmares begin Don Tyson
