In 2002, I was a senior at Pennsylvania State University in PA. My close friend had returned to Philly and I did not have many Christian friends to hand with. I felt empty inside, although I knew who God was. I grew up as in Chrisitan home, read my bible (to say I read it) and attended Christian church services and events. I friend I went to high school with in New Jersey introduced me to a Christian sorority that I chapters on several college campuses. I decided to do some research to see if there was one on my campus. I was happy to find out that were was a chapter (Eta chapter) at my campus.
I decided to attend an interest meeting when it came up. I attended the meeting and obtained an application. I remember praying and asking God if I should go forward with the sorority. After waiting for an answer from God, I submitted the application as well as the fee (paid from small check I received from my part time job).
I was soon told that I was able to join the line of women who would endure the process with me. I was number 2 and was named 'Dorcus' from the Bible. For those of you who do not know, Dorcus was a humble servant who made clothing for people in her community. One day she died, Peter, an apostle, came and through the power of God, brought her back to life again. After I looked up the name Dorcus myself, I was satisfied with the name. After all, all of my line sisters were assigned names.
The process took place for a couple of weeks. I had many enjoyable experiences. However, there was one experience I will never forget. I call that experience, the Hallway Annointing. It was during this sessions with my line sisters, that we all experienced a visitation from God. It was on that day that I became empowered by the Holy Spirit and was laying prostrate on the ground. I was calling on the name of Jesys and soon began speaking in tongues for the first time. I felt like my whole body was on fire.
After this experience, I felt like whoever made eye contact with me or engaged in a conversation with me was going to hear something about Jesus. That experience with my line sisters has changed my life and encouraged me to tell everyone I know about Jesus. He is the Savior of the world and has inspired me to be all I can be in Him. He is the lover of my soul. God has forgiven me of my sins and filled me with the power of the Holy Spirit. He can do the same for you if you let Him in.
All you have to do is say: "Jesus, I know I am a sinner. You came on Earth and died for my sins. I invite you now into my heart as my Lord and God. Fill me with your Holy Spirit that I can be a new person and do great things. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen'
If you prayed that prayer, I welcome you as my brother or sister. Be blessed and encourage other people to read this story.
