A story of being in the company of an angel.
Have you ever heard of or felt like you were in the company of an angel? This story is true . My wife and I have told very few people about this but I feel that the story needs to be told, and it's up to you to believe it or not. This took place in April 1979, our son Clayton was 4 years old. This was to be our second trip from California to Arkansas to visit relatives. We were driving a pick-up truck, and our son Clayton, sat snugglely between us. As we were driving through Arizona we encountered a severe thunderstorm. Up ahead I saw a man standing under an overpass. I knew without questioning that the Lord wanted us to help this man. He had nothing with him and he was barefoot. We pulled over and I told him that I was sorry, but I had no room in the front, but if he wanted a ride he could sit in the back. I also told him that there were sandwiches and sodas in the cooler, and that he could have as much as he wanted. I asked him where he was headed. He replied to me, Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He said there was a Christian revival going to be taking place, and he said he had to be there. I told him, well you're in luck, because we just happen to be going to Arkansas. As we were driving i could see him sitting in the back through my rear view mirror. It wasn't long and he began to eat and drink. When he had finished, I couldn't believe my eyes, he was reading a bible, a big bible, not one you could hide in your pocket. Like I said, when we picked him up he had nothing with him. We had driven some distance when we finally came up on a rest area. I told him that I was a Christian, and he said plainly to me, don't say you're a Christian when you tell someone, tell them you are a born again Christian. And he said, you know the difference don't you? Yes, yes I know the difference, thank you for pointing that out. And so the trip went pleasantly through 4 states. When we arrived at the exit for Ft. Smith, AR, we pulled over because we were going on further. He came to the passenger side of the truck, and he said, you have both done so much for me, can I ask one more thing of you? I said yes what is it? Could you give me a quarter for a cup of coffee he asked. Yes, I replied. I said here's a dollar, God Bless You. As soon as he touched the dollar he completely vanished. I know that the hair on mine and my wifes head must have stood straight up. It was so hard to believe, that I got out of the truck and walked around it. I don't know what he was protecting us from, if anything, or did the Lord want to see if I would listen to him. So often I think of this. I'm very happy that we stopped that day to pick up this angel.

|I can honestly say that I do not know where I'd be today if angels had not "stepped up" and saved me time and again along the way. Thank you for sharing this incredible encounter, Daniel. Love, peace, and blessings to you,

|Daniel, one thing I like about this is that the angel wasn't a beautiful feminine one. Seriously, angels are so misunderstood, and misrepresented and exalted, too. (sometime you might enjoy my poem, "Um, Lord, about Your angels..." which is humorous but sincere)
We are not to pray to angels, but only to the Lord God Almighty.
Anyway, this is such a treasure of a story. I'm really glad you shared it. I especially like the BIG Bible.
This makes me wonder what was happening in your lives at the time. God often sends extra-special blessings at hard times.
Keep writing! Connie

|Hey, here's an interesting topic that many have spoken about, multitudes of books have been written, many have pondered their existence. Angels.
Have I ever seen one? hmmm. I have, I think. ummmm, I think.
Hey......I want to tell you my Angel story.
I was in the Philippines. I was on my first "float", my first "operations in the field" We cruised on the USS DENVER it was an American troop carrier. It took us a few days at sea to reach the Philippines from Okinawa, Japan.
One night on this ship.......(you were not suppose to go on deck after taps. Taps is the official time for bed.) hehee
I went up to the front deck. It was a beautiful no cloud night. I saw the universe that night. I actually saw the Milky-Way, it was so awesome. If I had gotten pictures of what I saw, I'd be a rich man today. God is so awesome! I sat there for a few hours and just stared in awe.......it was real cool....I went straight up to the farthest part of the front of the ship and leaned over the point of the ship (very front) and looked into the water there were about 10 or 12 dolphins racing along side of the ship. I was so awed at what My God had created. It was a surreal experience for me. Have you ever had one of those?
of course you have, "rides on waves"
Any way, We arrived in the Philippines. In a port known as Subic bay. The city was Olongapo and we were given 4 days of a little R&R (rest and relaxation) :-) So all the guys spent the next 4 days in Sin city. Me too, hehe. But I was so full of the Holy Spirit, and I was so excited for the Lord, that that crap didn't faze me a bit. (and I'm not GAY) hehe. Philippines is a very poor country, much like Mexico.......as I walked across the bridge away from the navy base (clean and open)
the river separated the base from the city......the River was very nasty......filled with garbage and across the bank was the city......uhhhh houses....made of tin, cardboard, plywood, (it was a sight to behold for sure....) where people built along the river. The city was fairly well structured though, with lots of people, You could barley walk...with out people bouncing off of you.......and when they spotted that I was an American off the ship, they flocked to me.....mostly kidds.(and I say kidds for a reason) Like little goats, they would follow me everywhere......and beg for pesos.....Gimme peso....Gimme Peso....a million times, at first I gave out half my check....(just got paid) and these guys were like flies on crap....
well after the third day.....I had about a hundred dollars left, I gave it all out.......those kids......made me so angry......then on the fourth day.....I was going to buy some shirts...and things...and I did. (I had about 10 dollars left after I ate) I was standing on a wooden porch of the store front, (I just came out of a shakey's pizza ....Philippine style....not sure what it was that I ate that day.....but it wasn't sausage. :-) as I stood there, waiting, I felt someone grab at the back of my shirt, so I turned around and I looked down....there was this old woman with no legs holding on to my shirt..., 1 hand out (in the begging position) she asked me for a peso. Her hands were very worn and old .....oh....I'm so ashamed to say this, but I pulled away from her, all 4 days I had been handing out pesos, and fen-ding off people begging (mostly Kids) I told her emphatically No!, and I turned and walked around the corner.
Well....No sooner had I turned the corner God spoke to my heart..."My God That woman had no legs and you only care about your last 10 dollars?" ding!.....so I turned around....I swear it could have been no more then 3 or 4 seconds of time, but when I went back around the corner, she was gone. I looked everywhere and I couldn't find her, I spent the next 10 minutes looking all over, and asking people if they saw her....and all that night that scripture haunted me....Hebrews 13: 1-3 That woman had no legs, where the heck did she go?
All the way back to Okinawa....on the ship, I contemplated that......and I still contemplate it today.....

|Dear Mr. Keith.
Thank you for sharing your story with us. God speaks to us through his many devices. Sometimes we are not aware of it and other times it is so very clear that the most stubborn person cannot deny it. You have experienced something that neither nor your wife will ever forget. I am sure that it has changed your life in some way. We must always be thankful for the gifts God has given us and share them with others. Thank you for sharing yours. All the best to you and your family.

|Oh Daniel... this is such an amazing story, and YES, YES... I do believe it! He walks, doesn't he? I love this story because it gave me chills as I read it, knowing who this angel was.... Thankfully, you and your wife and child were kind and good to this angel, and He very well may have protected you all as well! Hallelujah! Blessings, lindalaw|
