AMERICAS' GOT TALENT
LOS ANGELES, CA
AUDITIONS: JANUARY 23, 2010
TIME: 8:OOAM TO 7:OOPM
PLACE: LOS ANGELES CONVENTION CENTER - SOUTH TOWER
On January 20, I received a phone call from the Production Company of the TV show AMERICAS' GOT TALENT, well I really don't remember actually applying to get on the show in the first place. Unless, I' m suffering from memory loss, I think someone other than myself was looking out for my goodwill. I really can't explain it but I'm glad I got the call. One of the most important call that I've had in a very, very long time.
I still have the call on my cell phone saved for life. I had an appointment to audition on January 23, at 6:45am I arrived to find that 400 other people had arrived before me and the lines were around the corner of Figueroa Street and Pico Blvd, around the other in a full 4 square box. It was cold outside and I mean really frost cold this morning
All these people and I had the same thing in common, we wanted to show our talent to the Producers of the AMERICAS' GOT TALENT TV show and Give'em All We Got. Thousands and thousands of people turned out for this wonderful opportunity to shine.
The Numbers started at
5040000 - 5040464 my number
When I arrived that morning I expected to be gone all day, so I had a very nice look, Business and Casual combined with a DKNY Tweed suit in black/blue and white and Red Silk Blouse. It got the job done. Chic!
I remained nice and fresh, focused. As I see all the people arrive after me I didn't feel so bad because they were along way after me and I felt good about that. When the PA's came around after a few hours in line and a see of people waiting and waiting for a chance to shine.
Shortly after the paperwork run. We found ourselves looking for ink pens to fill out the paperwork while we wait in line. Sometimes the production companies kinda plan the day this way. Keeping you busy while they create the beginning, middle, and ending of the Film Blocking. That is something which is done only on location. Some companys' preprep locations.
As time went by, from 7am until 10am paperwork, then, from 11am to 2pm, Crowd cheering, Signs waving, Hand clapping and all that audience stuff.
After that gruelling 3 hours of filming, they lead us by Numerical Order back to the original lineup. Kept the number order at all times. There we wait for another few hours.
Where are the food trucks when you need them? People were getting hungry and thristy but we all waited and waited for as long as it took to present their act and group acts.
No vendors were around and no coffee for along time. I had to stay in line and keep my spot, until we had our Registration Number Sticker. Then and only then you could leave the line and come back. It really was exciting to be apart of something like that. You get to meet people who desire the same goals in this business as you do. The desire to succeed as an Artist, Songwriter, Singer, Musician, and never give up on your DREAM.
When the line started moving for real to go inside the Convention Center to submit our paperwork, we all had to go through security checks. Then, we were separated into different groups. This is to put groups with groups, kids with kids, Singers with Singers. There we sat and really got into our personalities, and characters, dancers danced in the hallways, singers rehearsed their songs; me I sat and quietly waited while all the people around me went through what I had done years ago.
I learned not to waste my energy singing out loud, talking alot and mostly importantly keeping my Spirit centered. Not to forget why I was there. Concentrating and Focussing on what I was about to sing and rehearsing in my head. Every now and then I would hum my opening note and do some vocal exercises quietly to myself and remembering to not disturb the next person. Respect!
To sum it all up, now it is time to perform my song. After a long day , the time was 5:15pm and 8 people in my group walked into Room 504, I will remember this forever. We walked into that room proud and confident. I was to be the first person to sing, but the lineup changed and I was second to go up.
Well, I stepped up to the marker, I stated my name, age, state where I was from and the song I was going to sing and presented myself the best I had inside of me, I looked great and felt wonderful, I was focused and confident that I would NAILED the song. Everyone in the room cheered and clapped for me including all 3 Producers. That made me proud enough. I felt my mission was accomplished. They say, it will take 6 weeks before anyone will here anything from them or not.
I personally am thankful to be able to receive a call from the most popular TV show on television and audition in from of 3 producers who otherwise never heard of Linda D. Now I know, Americas' Got Talent is aware of my Talents, will they give me a chance. God knows. As for me I will just wait patiently.
