What we see

Would that you could see
through my eyes
How huge and important you appear
through my eyes;
Or how small and insignificant you appear
through my eyes;

Would that you could see
with my senses
of smell,
of touch
of sight

And detect the glorious essences rising on every wind
And feel the breezes rippling through down to my skin
And see the glint of eyes in the night brush

Would that you could know
powerlessness in the face of danger
and what it means to face death every day
or abuse
or foul words screamed out of frustration
over something I will never understand
nor care to

Because all I want
is your love
your touch
your scent
your eyes meeting mine and
watching the ends crinkle as you smile and then laugh
at me

And I will laugh right along with you
but all you will hear is
a bark
a meow

a bray
a neigh

And all you will see is a wagging tail
and my eyes will always say,
"Love me"...and I know you will.
