| It's a beautiful prose poem. Will you be writing the entire book in this style or will you also have dialog and action scenes? That was very kind of you to share an excerpt from your future book. Well, done. |

I like it! The easy way your story flows (and I love it in the poetic form! I think children need to see more poetry to appreciate it...) along with the subject matter sounds great for grade 6 and under (I don't know if anyone older would admit to wanting to read a story about friendship with a dragon as they might think that it is too "juvenile.") But... I think some of the words might be difficult for most children to understand unless they read it with a dictionary. Words like "duress" and "perused" "fervor" It is a treasure trove of vocab words! :~) So... I think it is subject-wise a 3-5 grade book, but because of the vocab I would probably put it more in the 6-9 grade realm of reading. I don't know if that was your intended audience or not.
My favorite portion of this chapter is
"Fear kept others far from his discerning
fire - breathing smile
till he touched her heart with his magic spark"
I love the imagery and the metaphors in that line!
I would love to see this story in a picture book with beautiful rich pictures done in a rather whimsical fashion. It would be a true heirloom to be shared over and over again with parent and child (or I guess even read by the children themselves).
I guess I wrote my own book... sorry. :~)

Spent an hour reading some of your writes. Love your style: playful, light, fun, enough detail to capture the imagination without slowing the reader down.
Plan to come back.

Could be a metaphor for a poison relationship with a curious, cautionary tone. Adolescents might be very interested in reading this, as many are drawn to fantasy and Anime-type stories. The simplicity of the story is always a challenge for me as a writer. However when writing for children, of any age, it's always good to go back to where they are and I'm sure you'll be "interviewing" your own kids as to what they'd love to see in this story!

| Of course you know I love dragons and they make woderful friends. For the children her story could be simply spoken and it will inspire others to speak theirs. Lady J |
