Do good things just happen or are they brought about by a higher power?
A Penny For Your Thoughts
A penny for your thoughts? My mother would often ask me that question while I was growing up. Another saying regarding pennies was “Find a penny and pick it up. All day long you will have good luck.” My wife has a saying everything comes in threes. For example I might be dealing with two customers named Brian and with out a doubt and a very short period of time I would find myself dealing with a third Brian. If on a particular day two bad things happen I find myself expecting the third. Old wife’s tales I’m not so sure. Let me tell you this storey.
I started Monday morning having lost or misplaced my lock box key and the key to one of my listings. On my way to my car I found an old penny on the ground. I picked it up thinking “Find a penny and pick it up and all the day you will have good luck.” Putting the penny in my pocket I went to my truck. I thought I’ll have another look for the key I had lost and lo and behold I found it. That‘s a relief I thought. Next I arrive at the office and there’s my lock box key on the floor beside my office chair. I’m thinking what luck and that was a truly lucky penny.
My busy schedule allows my wife and I limited time together. To compensate she often comes with me when I have an appraisal to do some distance away. This particular day I had an appraisal to do some 100 miles away and she was coming with me. During the trip I was telling her about finding the penny and then finding the two things I had lost. She made her normal remark wondering what the third lucky event would be because everything comes in threes. We arrived at our destination and I completed my site inspection. We then stopped at a local store and browsed around and then went to a local restaurant for some lunch. When I pulled in the parking lot I noticed there was only one car there with out of province plates. I made the remark “Oh, oh, no locals maybe the food isn’t the best. After some deliberation we decided to go in. The restaurant was empty except for one table. The people facing us were staring at us in amazement. We stopped in our tracks and stared back. There was two of our dearest friends from our military days some 40 years ago. What a wonderful meal and time together we had. My old friend looked at me with tears in his eyes and said “ I found a penny in my driveway this morning and picked it up. That was the luckiest penny I ever found.” I was speechless. My wife said “Larry found a penny this morning too.” Now isn’t that a wonderful storey ? Coincidence? Maybe. I’d like to think God decided it was time two old friends got together. Two old friends and their pennies and a little help from above. Thank you Lord.

This true story is precious! I like to relax into the mystery, myself, and try to choose meaning and joy in each experience. You are right about having a message here from above I am sure! (But I'm not sold on the everything happens in three's idea :) )
Blessings,

I enjoyed the thoughts you shared. It is a wonder how the Lord brings good things into our lives in most mysterious ways.
