We can't all be Giants

A small tree hidden in between two giant redwoods told me of how insignificant it felt.Since I was sitting under it for shade, and being very comforable at that, I told it.

" You 're making me very happy by
allowing me the benefit of your wonderful sturdy trunk, and the beauty of your lovely leaves that shield me from the suns rays."

Tree said "Thank you, but the Redwoods are everyones favorite they never even notice me."

I then told tree the story of how I used to feel as an artist, unable to compete with the great ones. Remembering my days of self-pity until a good friend gave me some wisdom gems to think about.  How we all are here for a purpose and if we learn to accept what we are and do our best with it ,we will have
great satisfaction even if  we never rise to the pinnacle of our expectations.

We are each unique, and there will always be someone that will need what we have to offer and when they do our purpose is fulfilled even though we may not think so. I told tree that the shade it gave me fulfilled it's purpose along with  other factors especially how it kept the Redwoods from being too close
together, and the different nutrients it fed the ground, among other things.

Before I left,  Tree was very happy standing as tall as it could, preening its leaves, and I was very glad to have given it a boost. I thought of a friend who had been very distant lately, and how badly it made me feel.  What I told Tree, also applied to me. As long as I fulfilled my purpose I wouldn't worry about how others thought of me, I would just forge ahead and do my best let others deal with their actions, if they so chose. Like Tree,I was doing fine!

A wonderful inspiring message, Alrisha - and I've talked to a few trees, shrubs, and even some tiny flowers - and I truly believe that everything in this world has a purpose - no matter how big, or small, it is.

This is such a powerful message. I love this. This would even reach the youngest children and stick with them all of their lives. You seriously otta think about making it into a children's book. Beautiful!(c :)
