Dear Members,
Welcome to the latest edition of our Newsletter. Please feel invited to Email Ted with any news for ensuing issues ...................... and please let us know if your received copy contains formatting problems.
Please put your name on the Subject line of your poetry submissions. If you use a pseudonym put it first, and your real name in parenthesis. Sometimes submissions come through with just "Submission(s)" on the Subject line and, if your poems aren't signed, Marcia must go hunting by Email address to know who you are.
ANNOUNCING - Poet of the Month for MARCH 2009 - JOYCE JOHNSON
~http://www.thewritingforum.net/html/joyce_johnson.html
IMPORTANT WEBMASTER NOTICE:
As of this date, 2/21/09, because of the recent increase of rampant "killer" viruses that are attaching themselves to just about any mailing Marcia will no longer open attachments from anyone. There will be no exceptions. Viruses roam the Internet looking for attachments and then latch themselves onto them. They’re getting past the best of the virus protection programs such as McAfee, AVG and Norton. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
~Marcia~

VIRUS STORY - FIRST HAND ACCOUNT
On my screen first was a series of pop-ups, some of them ads, and some of them were plain white squares. They filled most of the screen. Then came a larger pop-up which identified itself as "Spyware Project 2009" - coming to my rescue? This larger pop-up did not have an exit "X" in its upper right-hand corner. It did have a "Next" button which seemed to be non-functional.The screen went black. It simply shut down. When I turned the computer on again, it failed to open Windows and an error box popped up saying something about "services.exe" could not be found. That was it. My computer had been killed. I lost all of my files. Luckily, all of my poems were safely archived on several Websites. Everything else was lost, including most of the stories which had been received and compiled for this issue of the Newsletter. My apologies to those whose stories died with my computer. Lesson learned; future issues will be compiled on a Website - not on my computer. Within five hours, I had purchased a new laptop. Expensive lesson. ~Ted L Glines
DUAL-WEBSITE ANGEL-MISSION ASSISTS AUTHORS
A joint effort between members of The Writing Forum (TWF) and Authors Den (AD), with the approval and cooperation of Admin Staff, is now moving to collect donations and pay the AD membership fees of authors who have been hit hard by this economic downturn. Some of these long-term AD members are temporarily unable to pay their fees and continue with their AD membership. The Board of this angel project includes Georg Mateos, Bonnie May, Felix Perry, Amber Moonstone, and Ted Glines, most of whom are combined TWF/AD members. Also participating is Matthew Miller, founder and president of AD. The Board has set up a PayPal merchant account, recieving donations from many concerned members. From this merchant account, AD Bronze membership for a full year is being gifted to the authors who are in trouble. The original idea for this angel fund came from Felix Perry and it is Georg Mateos who is ably administrating the Board's merchant account. Each applicant for assistance is investigated and accepted by majority vote by the Board. Those donating to this effort are to be commended. Further information is available upon request from Georg Mateos - anytime.

MESSAGE CENTER FORUM
If you want to reply to an existing message click on it and it will pop up. Where it says AUTHOR - that's you - type in your name.
In the next box put in your Email address and click on the box next to it. For SUBJECT - in the case of a new message write the subject such as: Mary Smith's "Jack and Jill" - letting Mary know that she has a message. If you're replying to a message you don't need to put anything in the SUBJECT line. The original subject will be repeated. You can click on the box to get daily updates. What happened at the Forum for any day will be emailed to you late that same evening.
WEBSITE ADDITION - We have a selection of our members' book covers to illustrate the Our Book Store page. Different covers will be featured periodically. The page is limited in space so only five covers can be displayed at a time and those are selected by, believe it or not, picking names out of a bowl. Be sure you notify us when you have a new publication. Also notify us so your new publication will be featured in the next Newsletter.
