Ronee has been assigned, by her teacher, to write down who she is and what she loves.
My name is Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux (Sandusky). Ain't that a mouthful? I am a 12 year old girl; my birthday was this past Christmas. Yep, I was born on December 25. :-) (I used to get bummed out about it, but it doesn't bother me so much anymore...maybe because I can't change anything about it? LOL) I am in the sixth grade at Eastview Elementary School, here in Nashville, Tennessee (Nashville's also my home). Mr. Gee is my teacher. I am one of fifty kids. Yep, my folks went a little overboard on the adoption thing. :-) But that's okay, I love all of my brothers and sisters! What else, what else. I can't think of anything right now, sorry, Mr. Gee! So here' s my list of what I love: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ "RONEE'S LOVES" ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I love to sing. I love to play music. I love music! (Any kind, but Cajun and Country are my favorites.) I love to write. (Stories, songs, poems, doesn't matter. I love writing!) And draw. I love Jesus. And going to church (Christ Community Assembly of God). I love my Pastor (Bruce Bilkey). I love Children's Choir. I love to play on the computer. I love my Maman and Papa. Also my brothers and sisters. (All 49 of them!!) I love visiting friends (especially my bestest bud, Nicole Aldape). And being with my family. But I also love my time away from them when they get to be too annoying! (50 kids in a house can be rather loud!! And if they get into my stuff...GRRRRRR!) I love school. I'm in the sixth grade. My teacher, Mr. Gee is so cool; I love him. (Do I get bonus points for mentioning you? LOL) I love reading. Did I mention I love to sing? I love to travel. (Last year, I got to go to Alaska, and I REALLY loved that!) I love my kitty cat, Cajun. I love collecting autographs. And going to concerts. I love gabbing on the phone with my friends. I love my friends! (I think I've already said that.) I love going to movies (Gosh, my fave, I don't know...have so many!). I love watching TV (I get to watch one hour a night, my favorite programs are "America's Most Talented Kids," "American Idol," "Star Search," and sometimes, "Extreme Home Makeover," but that show makes me cry!). I love Loretta Lynn!!!!!!!!!! :-) (When I grow up, I hope to be like her. 'Cause I love to siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!!!!!) I love doing new things that challenge my mind (I hate being bored). I really don't like doing this list. (Sorry, Mr. Gee, I'm having trouble remembering more things!) Ummmmmmmmmmmmm...that's all I can think of right now! If I think of any more things, I'll have to make a new list! LOL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The above was written by Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux, aged 12. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Karen challenged me to write something about HER character, Ronee Le-Anne Reaux, a very precocious 12 year old child. :-) She loves to be the middle of attention, I gather that from the stories Karen writes. :-) She is also disabled, but that has no bearing on whom she is. :-) So I didn't mention it 'til now. Hope you like this, Karen! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (C) Copy written, 18 January, 2005, by Karla Dorman.

Made me think of an idea I heard about to keep one's mind focused on the positives... keeping a gratitude journal. Even on our worst days, once we stop to consider, our blessings are often truly bountiful.

Karla, one of Ronee's loves, was Loretta Lynn and hoped to be just like her. Before I was sent away by my mother, I always watched the original Mickey Mouse Club. I always adored Annette Funicello, because she was pretty and I either wanted to be her or exactly like her. Some of the things in Ronee's list, I wasn't allowed to do, cause at age 12 I was sent to a state institution. What they call a residential treatment center. The only treatment there for the boys was picking potatoes in autumn, and then hauling them back. The first day that we were told to go pick those stupid things, shortly after I got there, I walked to the edge of the field and picked up the sack, and immediately threw it down and ran as fast as I could back to the cottage. The male cottage parent was right on my heels. As we got the door of the cottage, he caught up to me, and started dragging me inside. I was screaming to wake the dead, when his wife came from the kitchen and wanted to know what was going on. I told her that I could not pick those stupid potatoes in the field, cause they would give me callouses. I had asked her if there was something in the cottage I could do instead. She told her husband to let go of me, and then she assigned me to work with her. I was to help make the beds that some of the boys didn't make right, I had to help with dinner, and yes we cooked all our own meals right in the cottage. I had to help set the tables and then with the dishes afterward. It was a very easy job compared to picking potatoes and carrying heavy sacks back to the road. That was just so not for me (giggles). Just a little background to show that even then I had my feminine wiles working (giggles again). May the Lord be with you, and at your side always. With much love, peace, & (((HUGS))), your very dear friend in Wisconsin, and sister in Christ our Lord,
Barbara Lynn Terry
