Once again tonight...The candle light will allow me to drift...Into a mere fairytale...

I sneak to my chamber at dusk

A mere ray of light slipping into darkness

I need not bother with a lantern

Once again tonight

The candle light will allow me to drift

Into a mere fairytale

The butterflies dance before me

My fingertips turn the pages

Into the kingdom am I

A Princess

Comes my companion

Your chariot awaits my Princess

Wee’ in excitement I say

Tell me Companion

Will the horses gallop in fury?

Taking me to the moat

The moat replied her Companion

Yes, the moat says the Princess

The moat calls me heart there

I hear the whispers of my beau

He waits for me in silence

Imagining of the beauty his heart so misses

Awe me Princess says her Companion

Tis’ love dancing in your heart

Oh yes, tis’ petals of soft pink roses

In his hands he holds

Waiting by the moat for me his maiden

His heart knows not I am a Princess

You must tell him say her Companion

No, I won’t spoil the moment

It might scare him away

He could throw the soft petals of me roses

Into the water drifting so still

Forgetting me

I then would cry in panic

Fearing I would never ever see my beau again

Tell the Horseman

He must not utter the word Princess

Before his presence

I will convey your wishes’ Princess

Leave the Castle the beautiful Princess

Her Horseman takes her hand

Helping her upon the chariot

Does the Princess wish her Companion escort her?

No replied the Princess

My Horseman will care for the horses

While I am there

No harm will come to me

The horses take the Princess on her journey

Only a short distance me Princess says her Horseman

Hurry, hurry, I mustn’t be late

Twas’ a beautiful Summer day

The grass, so green

You could smell the heathers’ fragrance

I see him

Over there the Princess tell her Horseman

The Horseman slow down a bit

Coming to a stop

He takes the Princess by her hand

As she exits the chariot

Take care of the horses

I will be here for a while

Yes says the Horseman

I will water the horses and take them to rest

Over beneath the trees over yonder

Wait there for me, replies the Princess

She walks gracefully toward her beau

Just has she imagine

His hands held dainty soft pink roses

A gift of me heart for thy maiden says him

Come walk with me

She tucks her hand over his arm

They walk whispering and giggling

Allow me the pleasure my maiden

Your sharing a feast with me

She looks over yonder

Her beau had laid out a quilt

With a beautiful basket full of delights

With delight in her heart she replies yes

The butterflies dance around them

He pours her a mug of cider

So sweet says her

You do such a beautiful thing as this

Only for someone so precious as thee

He leans forward to take her hand

Might it be inappropriate?

I ask to kiss thee with permission

She smiled her heart racing

He kisses her softly just a peck

Thy lady is as beautiful has the day says he

The two ravished themselves in a feast

Afterwards, he read poetry to her

The Princess was in heaven

Listening to him utter such beauty from his book

The day was coming near an end

The two stands to gather up

The remainder of their feast

The Princess gathers her roses

I will long tomorrow says her beau

The absence of your beauty in me heart

Long for me replied the Princess

Till you see me once more

I will wait your promise

He kisses her once more

Before walking her to the chariot

Her horseman takes her by the hand

Helping her upon the chariot

She glances back waving farewell

As the horses gallop away

The roses he gave her

Leaving a trail of rose petals

Dancing before her beau

As the Princess fade into the sunset

The little girl yawns

Its bedtime

She takes the candle

Placing it on the table beside her bed

I love a good book she whispers

Lying her head back against her pillow

She drifts fast asleep

In her dreams dance the butterflies

A lovely bedtime story of princesses and magic that I can truly see the little girl reading as the candle light flickers. There is somthing about reading books by candle that brings one into a sort of magic trance at times. I used to love being at my cottage at night and reading by that flickering flame.

My dreams tend to haunt me at night. But your beautiful, heartwarming and comforting story above is what I will dwell on as I fade into sleep. Well Done! Deborah
