What Susan Sonnen calls, "a postcard story."

When did it happen?  Did he suddenly wake up one morning and realize his life was a sham?  Or did it happen little by little, day by day?

Surely, that had to be it.  It’s impossible to think that a man could wake up one morning and decide he no longer loves his wife.  But why was it that he couldn’t remember the day or the month or at least the season?

He gazed at her as she lay peacefully sleeping on her side of the bed – so near, yet so far – and it was then that he understood – the greatest distance that lay between them was the distance that separated them in their bed.

Your words ring true for those who love someone, but along the way one is no longer loved by the other. Perhaps it is today's obsession with self. I am beginning to believe that it is a growing curse and evolving as a wider effect on those who want to love. This is extremely well written. - Chins Up! - Bill

One can feel the separation here, in spite of the close proximity. I think it's time for a little retreat to a B&B for a weekend. ;-)

Dawn, my response to your poem might sound cynical, but I want you to know that I write what it made me think of. It sounds like they bought a king-sized bed. I recall my husband telling me one time that our kind-sized bed was going to ruin our marriage. <grin>

He lost his wrist-watch, and then starting asking himself "where the time is gone?", no woman will be apart of any man, not even a million of an inch if she's inside his heart.

Now that's 'heavy'...very, very heavy. Not only that but it's very good. I'm forwarding this to someone from my past along with a note, "Now I know what happened."
