In this story, I was given words of wisdom from an unknown author and I wrote a story using life application. Enjoy!

God whispers in your soul and speaks to your mind.
Sometimes we don't take time to listen, and He has to throw a brick.
It's your choice: Listen to the whisper, or wait for the brick.
Author Unknown

A few weeks ago, I am positive that I felt the sting of a chip flying from one of these bricks! I begin to experience this excruciating pain in the calf of my left leg. It was as intense as a labor pain with gripping, squeezing episodes centralized to one specific location in my leg. The pain came on intensely and then subsided just as fast—exactly the way labor pains come and go.

This all began on a Thursday morning as I met my husband for breakfast at Bojangles, where I would enjoy yet another buttery ham biscuit. As I sat across from him at the breakfast table, the pain seared through my calf and I had to reach down and grab my leg. Soon enough though, the pain began to subside and I drove on to the office.

My day was uneventful after that but during the night, the pain reoccurred waking me harshly from my usual sound sleep. Then on Saturday after working in the yard, the pain hit again. I went online to self diagnose my problem. Of course, what I read was not good news but only served to instill the fear of a dreaded medical problem—a blood clot was a possibility.

So, at my husband’s pleading persistence, I found myself in the emergency room on Sunday morning instead of at church. After testing, the doctors discovered that there was absolutely nothing physically wrong with me. Yet, the pain had been excruciating! Where did it come from and even more confusing was where did it go? Yet, I have to admit that I felt the last twinges of pain while laying on the hospital bed on Sunday afternoon.

Let me tell you what I think. You see, I have been about twenty pounds overweight for at least 7 years now. I have successfully chosen to ignore this problem and found every excuse in the book to continue along in my unhealthy lifestyle—that is until God put the squeeze on! I have to believe in my heart that God allowed this intense pain to get me moving. And since I am certain about this encounter and determined to correct my lackadaisical attitude about the seriousness of being overweight, I am already twelve pounds lighter—to God be the glory!

So, be careful and don’t let God put the squeeze on you! If you find yourself indulging in activities that are not healthy, it is best to get on track now by trusting in your own body’s mysterious actions and or reactions. After all, you are one of a kind, -- wonderfully and mysteriously made by our creator.
