Joe Baker updates us on what is going on in their world. Joe and his husband, Royal Griggs, are the (adoptive) parents to three young boys, ages 13, 11, and 8.

Joe Baker here.  Thought an update on our family was in order, so here goes.

I am still working as an X-ray technician at Denver General Hospital; meanwhile, my husband, Royal Griggs, continues to run his clothing boutique.  Doing very well, I must say, even in light of today's shoddy economic picture.  We are indeed fortunate:  so many people are out of work.

Our sons, Eaton (11), Eduard (8), and Dex (Dexter) (13) are thriving as well.  We have since pulled our sons out of public school and have since enrolled them in a private school setting, where children seem to be more accepting of our family.  The school they were at previously gave them no end of grief; it was really bad.

We have just celebrated Hallowe'en:  the boys had a marvelous time at the Hallowe'en bash held downtown (we live near Denver, Colorado); they ate themselves nearly sick with candy and other treats.  They even dressed up as a trio of pirates; they really looked dashing in their costumes.  As for Royal and myself, we dressed up too:  we're big kids at heart.  :)  I was a mummy; meanwhile, Royal was a television set.

We didn't win the costume contest, but we still had a good time, nevertheless.  The guy who was declared the winner was a ceiling fan.  Wore a black sweatshirt with a Day-Glo "C" on the front, holding a sign that said, "GO, CEILINGS!"  Ceiling fan.  Get it??  Pretty clever, if you ask me!  :)

The children's costume contest was won by a little girl who was a unicorn.  She must have been at least six years old:  just a cute little thing with waist length curly strawberry-blonde hair.

My youngest son, Eddie, demanded a recount.  He thinks that he should have won, not a girlie-girl!  LOL

No go.  The decision stood; it was final.  So no prize for Eduard, much to our (and his) disappointment.

We will be celebrating Thanksgiving at Royal's parents' house.  We will then celebrate C*****mas with my folks in Las Vegas, Nevada, which is something we do every year.  The boys are looking forward to seeing their Nevada cousins again (not to mention, the gifts!).

We went to the Broncos-Baltimore game on Sunday.  Let's just say the other team used us as their punching bag:  they killed us, 30-7, giving us our first loss of the season (we're now 6-1-0).  We were not amused, to say the very least.  It was a regular blowout on the opposing team's side.

Maybe we'll get 'em next Sunday when we play the (hated) six-time Super Bowl Champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers!  I hope so!

Well, Eduard and Eaton are fixin' to get it on, so I'd best go deal with this before any blood is shed.  I will write in here again; if not me, then Royal will.  Either way, you'll hear from one of us in the coming weeks.  Until then, this is Joe Baker signing off!  Take care and be well!

~Joe Baker (husband to Royal).  :)

Karen Lynn, to make a statement about Christmas with asterisks is a wrong! If you're Christian, why on earth would you ******...No one says you Christians can't say Christmas! I don't say it around the holidays because I don't believe in Christ and I practice the Wiccan faith, and Happy Holidays suits me, but this is drawing attention to something that need not be. Otherwise the story is well written...

Sage
