Excerpt: She thought about how she'd like to read for about fifteen minutes before closing the night light and her eyelids, but realized the night light wasn't on and her eyelids were already almost closed anyway. She folded her hands on top of herself just so, then whispered a short prayer, her lips barely moving: "Dear God, I've never asked you for anything ever in my whole life, but could you please take me back home to England."
Ma is one of my very favorite non-military related story, my first venture into something besides veteran's issues. I like it mostly because it still brings tears to my eyes, but also because the protagonist is so strong, so very inspirational.
