A short story using Biblical references for healing.

Since being ask to write this article I have done a lot of thinking back over my life at the illnesses and afflictions that I have had to face. This may be a testimony instead of the article I had intended to write. I always go with the leading of the Lord in the Christian things I write. A lot of people don’t think that you can have a one on one relationship with God, but my God talks to me everyday, He does all born again Christians. Maybe not in the audible voice that I would talk to you in, but through His word and in many others ways such as thoughts.

There seems to be more sickness in our world today than ever before in history. We pray for healing and nothing happens so we go back and pray again and then again. Still nothing happens. Why? Is it God’s will for us to be sick? Do we have to live a life time in misery and pain because "GOD" doesn’t want us to be healed? I have never found in my Bible anywhere, where God says it is His will for us to be sick and afflicted.

I     f we could live as the verse in (Ex. 15:28) "And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I [am] the LORD that healeth thee." Unfortunately we don’t live that way because we are human.

"Ah," you say, "but that was written for the Israelites in the Old Testament." Yes it was, but everything that is written in either the old or the new Testament is also written for us today. You see God saw the over all picture. The Israelites lived by works. Today we are in the "GRACE" dispensation. When Christ died and the vial was rant from top to bottom that gave us the right to come boldly before the cross and ask God ourselves for the things we need.

Hebrews 13:8 says "Jesus is the same yesterday and forever."So what He did for the Israelites in the old Testament and what Christ did while he was here on earth we can do today. So God knew that down through the years as time went on there would be more and more diseases.

So away back in Isaiah’s time the Lord let us know that He would give his body to beaten and killed. By his stripes we "are" healed. (Isaiah 53: 4 & 5) "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."(KJV) This is a reference to the "suffering servant" in Isaiah which many Christians believe prophesied about Jesus. The Hebrew word napha can refer to physical or spiritual healing. Here it is translated simply as healed. It is not clear whether physical or spiritual healing or both is intended here. However, the references to transgressions and iniquities might imply that it is spiritual healing. I happen to believe it was intended for both spiritual and physical healing.

James 5:14-16 (KJV) 14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick; the Lord shall raise him up. If he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven. 16 Confess your faults one to another that ye be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

God has healed me many times. Both of small and large afflictions. There lots of times I have had to cry out to Him for some reason or another. Several years ago He healed me Lupus. I had suffered with Lupus for several years and even had to quit my job because of it. I had ask my church to pray for me and everyone I knew that was a Christian I ask for prayers. I praised God for His healing after claiming it. I did not know the time He healed me. I went to the doctor for a check up and the blood test were all negative. There was no sign of Lupus in my system. I went to another doctor for a second opinion. The test he ran all came back negative with no signs of Lupus. That was in 1995 and I’ve been free of Lupus ever since.

A couple off weeks ago I was very sick with the flu, sinus infection, bronchial infection, pneumonia in the left lung. I had a fever of 102.8 degrees. The word of the Lord spoke to me and told me to quit dwelling upon how bad I felt, and to go around my house three time signing "I am healed, I am healed, I am healed, hallelujah, praise the Lord I am healed." I said, "Ah but Lord I can’t sing." Then I realized any kind of praise sounds good to God’s ears. I made my way around the house as I had been told to do and on the third time around the was a rumbling came from deep inside my stomach and I felt the quaking of it all over my body. Instantly my fever broke and I was healed. Yes once again I was healed.

The lady in the Bible that had an issue of blood for 12 years wasn’t healed when she touched the hem of Christ’s garment. That was just her act of faith. She was healed when she determined in her heart that she would be healed. God loves His people and He wants them to be healthily and happy. That is why over two thousand years ago He sent His only begotten son to die in our stead. He gave us salvation and all the other things that went with it. Even healing for our bodies and souls.

Thank you for this story. I've a friend who says he believes that God heals, but he has so much unbelief in his life...his healing seems to be on hold. God told me a while ago that I should seek his hand is all things. I would take cold medicine instead of ever praying for healing of my body. Then one day, my three girls, olive oil dripping from their hands down their arms laid hands on me and prayed. Needless to say, I was better in minutes! O the faith of a child! Yes, I agree, it is the Father's will that we are whole and walking in divine health.
