Taking a bath with Cooper –
Okay, the summer is over and I need to get serious again! I want to tell you what happened to me this morning. I am invited to a wedding this weekend for a close friend and I decided to start getting ready today. They are having a lingerie luncheon shower tomorrow and I still need to buy a gift. So, I decided to take a bath, put hair coloring on my hair, and shave and pluck everything, and then go shopping this afternoon.
All of that being said, I stripped down to my birthday suit and proceeded to put the color stuff on my hair. I shaved and plucked while waiting for twenty minutes to go by. Next I went into my shower and closed the glass door, or so I thought. After getting into the shower and getting my hair all wet, the next thing I knew was Cooper, my two year old cat, was in the shower with me. Obviously, I had left the door ajar and he decided to come inside.
Now Cooper loves to play in water. I have had cats all my life and have never had a cat who loved water like he does. I even place his water bowl in the bathtub because he plays and spills the water everywhere. He is a large white cat with big black spots (Turkish Van) and I hear tell that they are known for being the 'swimming cats'. Maybe next summer I will get him a kiddie pool to play in.
Anyway, everything happened so fast, I don't know where to begin. When I realized Cooper was in the shower, I jumped like a frog. When I did that, some of the stuff on my hair fell directly on one of his big black spots. I immediately shut the door tightly so Cooper couldn't get away till I rinsed him off. Then, the mess ran down my face and burned my eyes. I reached for a towel to dry my eyes and spilled more on Cooper. By now, he is soaking wet and wanting out. I grabbed him so I could hold him under the shower and things just got worse. He started howling and making noises I have never heard before. The way he was slinging his head, I have to believe it was burning his eyes also. I have a bench built into the shower so I sat down, trying to hold on to Cooper, to keep from falling down myself. This was the biggest fiasco I have been in in quite a while. We were both howling by now and I dared him to put out a claw.
I don't even know what happened next, but somehow I was able to get him rinsed off, holding onto one of his legs. Then I opened the door and threw out the wet cat. I couldn't get out to dry him since I needed to rinse out my hair and take a bath myself.
I have seen emails come across my computer about giving a cat a bath and died laughing. I don't think I will ever be able to read one again and laugh. I was so tired when I finally was out of the shower, I needed to lie down for a bit. It was about two hours later till I laid eyes on Cooper. He won't come near me. He is dry – that's good.
Folks, this truly did happen. I don't think he and I will ever take another bath together. This too will pass…
