Walking outside in the yard a little while ago with my camera, I took several shots of the two Christmas trees decorated in our yard as well as the house trimmed in lights. 

I sensed a certain loneliness to it all. The trees still stand tall and pretty with the lights adding so much color.  But they seemed sad as they sense their purpose has been completed for another year.

It is rather a sad time after Christmas for them. Their usefullness has ended and it is as though they realize it.  They don't seem to be smiling as brightly as before. In fact, I think I see tears streaming from their eyes.

Only a few days ago, they seemed to be communicating with each other in our yard as well as every where else I saw them. 

They were like children all giddy and bouncy as the light wind would move through them every once in a while.  I could hear them singing carols and eagerly awaiting that magic day when there was so much peace.

And for those that were cut, I will see them soon out by the trash pile lying there waiting to to picked up and taken to the dump. 

If some of them are lucky they will be used for mulch.  But for most of them I'm afraid they will just be thrown on a pile and left there to degrade by themselves.

That's a sad picture when you think of all the joy they have brought us in the past few weeks.
