During early years of childhood, parents consistently remind their children to sit up straight when sitting. Upon standing they are to stand tall, and walk straight. Absolutely no slouching was tolerated. Great emphasis is put on posture. Having good posture is also important to your health, especially your bones. Yes proper diet plays a major role in your posture too, along with some form of exercise and sufficient rest and relaxation.
In your walk with God posture is also vital to your growth and spiritual development. Prayer is the posture of your spiritual life. There will be times when you are faced with many adversities, experiencing many road blocks and great opposition in your posture with God your Abba Father. It is very important during these times of great trials, to allow the engrafted word of God sustain you in your posture. Hebrews 4:14-16 says " Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast our profession." (15) For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." (16) " Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in times of need. " Begin to worship your Abba Father during the difficult times and remain prayerful. Is it easy? The answer is no, but it is worth it to put on the garment of praise in your posture of prayer. Let the fruit of your lips praise your heavenly Father, for renewing, reviving and sustaining you through His word.
I challenge you to maintain your posture before God and men, that in spite of the disappointing times in your life you will still keep your prayer posture. For it does not matter how much pain you must bear, nor how severe the storms of life are. There is an assurance of God's word, in the book of Isaiah 26:3 which says " Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee. " There will be some days that you may not have enough strength to pray, and you may not even know what to pray for: but the comfort of God's word reminds you of what Romans 8:26-27 says it reads " Likewise the spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. " (27) " And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God."
For a healthy posture in Christ Jesus always rember that you are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Stay in the posture of prayer: whether you are standing, sitting, walking, or laying prostrate before Him, keep on praying. Prayer changes things, and prayer will help you to maintain your posture before your Abba Father.
