I think taking so many drugs, is the fastest way to the grave. Your doctor is not going to take them...YOU take them, and sooner or later, you will destroy something along the way...the kidneys; the liver; the pancreas; the colon, etc. Almost every drug has a side-effect of some kind, and it's up to the taker to 'buyer beware,' of the side-effects of the drugs you are taking. I fear taking drugs of any kind...they can do so much damage along the way, and even kill you, that I did a little research on the topic, and wrote the following article.
Prescription Drugs; The #4 Killer In America!
Prescription drugs can get habit-forming, and that's what I don't want. To get addicted to these drugs. Sure, sure, these drugs will help you in the short run...but, in the long, after you take them year after year...and you notice other things wrong with your body...what then? I've known some people who take as many as 17 to 25 drugs a day...and even up to 30 drugs per day, and I think these people who are drug addicted, are going to suffer more in their later years.
STROKE: A Blessing In Disguise?
How can a stroke be a blessing? I suffered a stroke on May 23, 2012, and I was in the hospital for over a month. A stroke can attack anyone...man or worman...young or old...at any time. Over my 67 years, I have always taken care of myself, and the reader will see in this article, how much I take care of myself, and despite this, I still got hit with a stroke. I think I got the mild variety of a stroke, and if not, I might not be here writing this. In other words, because I have always taken care of myself, I withstood a stroke, with minor damage, etc. I think that's the best prevention a person can make...take care of yourself and stay strong...and you can probably fend off an attack of the flu...OR a stroke like I did, etc.
I am not anti-pharmacy...I am pro common sense! When it comes to prescription drugs, I think the American people have crossed over the line of insanity. Drug use in America is just a way of life. I the last couple of years, I've cut four drugs out of my menu; metformin (diabetes) put me in the hospital twice (GONE) zolpidem (ambien) put me in the hospital once; I've heard and read too many bad stories about the statins (simvastatin) GONE; My primary doctor wanted to give me a cocktail of drugs for high-blood pressure, and I told him I would not take them. In my view, everyone has to be an advocate for themselves, etc.
If I can't cut the drug completely, I will try to cut the dosage. An example, is the drug Metoprolol, which I started at 150 mg., and Dr. Sen reduced it to 100mg. I'm tired of all these side-effects from drugs, etc...a real pain in the butt!
When I was discharged from the hospital after a month and because of a stroke, I was given the prescription for Lisinopril, the blood pressure medication...I struck it off the prescription list. I will not tak Lisinopril, because it was prescribed while I was in the hospital, and I coughed night and day. Just because your doctor prescribes something, doesn't mean you have to take it. The Lisinopril is GONE!
The Cost of Drugs Has been cut;
I'm a veteran, and the VA Medical Center, is just down the street about a mile from where I life. Then, why don't you go to the VA to get your healthcare? Because I don't want to get murdered, that's why! The VA Medical Center, here in Albuquerque, N.M., is a training/teaching hospital, and you get what you pay for. I just don't want to get murdered at the VA, so I chose to leave the VA, and pay for my own care in the private sector. In 2010, I paid about $122 for co-pays on medication; in 2011, that number was cut to $82 for the year; In 2012, the cost will even be lower than the year before. I used to take 8 pills per day...and that amount has been cut to 3 pills per day, and I've never felt better. As I said earlier, I am NOT a pill-popper, and I will reduce my drug intake...no matter what. The pharmaceutical industry is the most greedy industry in the world, and so are the doctors who prescribe all this poison! If you want to take all this stuff (without question) go ahead...it's a free country!
The Benefits of Chiropractic;
For me, this has been the key to a healthy life. I've been going to a chiropractor since 1976, and I have about 125 visits under my belt. Chiropractors are nothing more than specialists of the spine, and I've always believed that the spine and neck area, are where many problems begin, etc.
Smoking Sucks! How I Quit Smoking!
I think smoking is one of the worst things a person can do to themselves, and to those around them, including their pets. I quit smoking at the young age of 24 in 1970, when it was more difficult to quit smoking. At that time, there were pictures on Joe Camel and The Marlboro man on television, billboards everywhere! The temptation was always around, therefore it made it harder to quit. Quitting smoking...and all tobacco, has been one of the best things I've ever done with my life. No cigars; to pipes; no chew, which is disgusting, to say the least. In 2012, I'm a better person, because I got all tobacco out of my life.
Colonoscopy; NO CANCER;
I had a colonoscopy done in February, 2022, and everything turned out good...no cancer after the procedure; and no cancer after getting the lab report back a couple of weeks later. Boy, was I relieved to see and to hear that fact.
Become an Advocate For Yourself;
I've Always Taken Care of Myself; I get a flu shot every year; I get a physical exam every year; five years ago, I got a puemonia shot; in 2011 I got a shingles shot. because of high blood pressure, I haven't eaten salt in more than 40 years; I lost 40 pounds in 2001; I quit smoking in 1970; Doctors are getting rich, because of all the dopes taking all this medication they prescribe!
95% of Red Meat GONE!
Sweet Potatoes Are One of the Best Foods In the World;
The Benefits of Olive Oil;
People who live in the Mediterraneaqn Area are healthy and live a long time, because they eat a lot of olives and olive oil. I started cooking with olive oil about five years ago, and in 2012, I drink a teaspoon of olive every morning for regularity. I think my health has improved because of these lifestyle changes, etc.
I eat more bunny food than ever before, but I'm not a vegetarian.
Here's the Skinny On How I Lost 40 Pounds!
I lost 40 pounds in 2001, and it took me a year to do it.
Prune Juice; Jerry's Little Mis-adventure;
Jogging; 15 Miles a Week For Over 24 years!
That translates to over 17,000 miles. Because I want to take care of my feet, now that I have entered the Age of the Elderly, I bought one of those stationary bikes, to get my exercise. I'm no good to anyone, if I have to be in a wheelchair.
