LOGLINE: A school teacher enlists the aid of a private detective and an anthropologist to fight the Santeria curse and its huge beast that massacred three generations of his family.

NOTE:  All plots, story-lines, characters, events, etc., are copyright-protected and registered with the WGA West.

SYNOPSIS:

In 1941, while on vacation in New Orleans, Steven Clayton and his wife visit a West African artifacts shop. While browsing, Steven  unknowingly  violates the sanctity of the religion known as Santeria. Enraged, the shop’s owner, a West African voodoo witch doctor, invokes a Santeria curse on the Clayton family’s sons for the next four generations, using Santeria’s mythological beast, OYA, to exact her revenge.  Imbedded within the curse is the name of “Copperfield”, which was stamped on the bottom of a damaged brass kettle Steven Clayton was holding when he desecrated the religion.

Four generations of the Leslie Copperfield family, from the first Leslie Copperfield, to Leslie Copperfield the Fourth, are trained in the Marine Corps by Clayton Drill Instructors. And each Copperfield not only has identical, ugly malformed eyes, but they all die in exactly the same manner, from WWII to the Gulf War. One-by-one, the Clayton sons meet their own violent demise at the hands of the huge beast.

Chuck Clayton, the last remaining son, trained Copperfield the Third and Fourth, both killed in Vietnam and the Gulf War, respectively. Suffering through night terrors and horrible apparitions of these Copperfield deaths, he discovers that his grandfather and father had also trained Copperfields...each with the same ugly eyes and each who died in war in the same manner. Haunted by these Copperfield deaths  and blaming himself, he retires to become a schoolteacher.

Fifteen years later, Chuck receives an invitation to the Drill Instructor’s Convention in San Diego. Hesitant to re-live the horrors of his past, he is contacted by his old friend, Boston private detective and ex-Marine D.I., Jake Milton, who puts all his resources to work to help Chuck with his nightmarish problem. Assisted by Anthropologist, Doctor Laura Brighton, they search to uncover information on the Copperfield family, the Santeria curse, and how to stop the horrible beast. What they uncover is so terrifying, Chuck suddenly begins to re-live the horror-filled apparitions of Copperfield deaths, and is attacked by the creature but survives. He develops moral strength from the attack and as their relentless investigation continues, they discover that all is not quite what it appears to be.

Were the Copperfields actually killed in war? Were they all from the same family? What did the Copperfield name have to do with the Clayton family curse? Chuck must uncover the key to stop the ferocious beast and overcome the curse before he becomes its next victim.

The twists and turns continue to shock and terrorize him, right up to the very end, when he - once again - not only faces the deadly creature...but the horror from his great grandfather’s past.
