I am also a Vietnam veteran and I read the response of the sniper who commented on your book. I also read your book and I did so much enjoy it. I found that in church there is not to much emphasis on how to talk to God on a personal level. It has shown me that I can talk to God just like I am talking to any person. He dosen't want to hear from our interpretations of Billy Graham's, but He wants to hear from us just as we are.
I was a machine gunner in the 5th marines for two tours in Vietnam. I have sufferd much emotionally since the war, but have found that books like Paeans have a medicinal flux for the mind that no chemical can compare to. I have been diagnosed with bi- polar disorder and PTSD since Viet Nam and it takes a heap of good feelings to overcome suicide sometimes. Thank you for teaching me to find a closer solace to God, just by talking right from my heart to him, and giving Him permission to help me. I was a very good marine with many commendations in the art of war, but it takes a knowing of God personally to overcome in this right now matter of fact army of Christ Jesus. God bless you Mrs. Boggess. God does certainly love snipers, but ha! ha! He also loves machine gunners.
