RE: My - 3 H - P 6 -
Dear deranged: Say, if you multiply 3H by two you get P6? How come?
EDvard, the smarter cousin!
DEAR SMARTER, BUT NOT YOUNGER CUZ -
WOW! Didn’t know yew were a Math Major!
Now - see if ewe can figger out - 3 H - P 7 ... TK.
Along with everyone else’s Prayers -
I truly look FORWARD to this BIG DOPEY LUG -
getting better so fast that -
HE WILL POST SOMETHING WITTY -
TO ‘REAM MY ARSE!
The Big Dopey Lug has probably lost some weight now, but I look forward to yer Arse Reamin!
PS: As far as my many names, and my will, I think you're gonna inherit about a dozen cats from me, and one rascal of a garden mouse named Speedy - I spelled yer name right, too!
RE: My - The New Jerusalem - 1-5
'Huge read. Huge entertainment..
STEVE - Well, thank you, Mate!
Was just an idea for awhile, to take some real people I knew, and put their characters into a second attempt at fiction.
Almost a year has passed, and yours was only the third comment. although on a 'back burner' intend to continue some day? When I get a "Round Tuit."
Peace - Tom.
RE: My - Her Peignoir -
Peignoir...sexy nightgown...item meant to induce bodice ripping passion from a besotted member of the male species or simply, "let's have sex t'night". Anyway you describe it, it's a good thing.
Too bad she left you, guess she didn't know that the peignor was what would stick most in your mind.
DEBRA - Thank you for such kind comments.
She had many other fine qualities - she was a good Mother, a hard worker, and was always faithful - we just grew apart.
I recently actually Thanked her for making the decision to part - we are now both Happier!
Peace - Tom.
Jackie (Micke) Jinks
Oh, Tom...you romantic Kat, you!! Love this poetic adventure you share. Good that your memory outlasted the picture...
Blessings and Love - Micke
LOL... Guess she was afraid of being black mailed. Great story tho. Sad it didn't last. boo hoo, hugs, J'nia
That picture is just too damn cute and you are too funny. Sorry she took the pic when she left.
E T Waldron
Tomkat you are hilarious, even while being serious, and I do appreciate your ability to be both at one time;-) Excellent poem!
RE: My - ELECTRIC?
Time will tell my friend, but I admit he is interesting...
Be always safe,
Tesla is certainly a good name for an electronic car. Hopefully it will enjoy a more lasting impact than the reputation of Nikola Tesla.
LORI - AMEN! Amazingly, as I rapidly approach age 69, in 12 days, and having held a B.S. degree since 1970 - and having been a Manager for about 35 years - I NEVER HEARD OF HIM!
And yet, he was Famous! And did invent an electric car - see list copied below. I GOOGLED his name, and was dumbfounded - even the U.S. Supreme Court credited him with inventing the RADIO!
Tesla electric car
Tesla's Egg of Columbus
Rotating magnetic field
Particle beam weapon
Terrestrial stationary waves
Certainly NOT ‘CHOPPED LIVER’ ... Tom.
One hundred years of electric cars shoot down like ducks in a barrel by the oil companies. Hope this one made it, but I doubt it, they will come with and indecent quantity of money and he will sell. Soooooorryyyyyy!
GEORG - don’t think so! Go to Maryland Public TV - Charlie Rose Show -
Tuesday night, 8/11 - and WATCH ... this young fella is one sharp cookie, with a ‘CAN-DO’ attitude. Already has contract with DAIMLER to produce 1,000 cars as a ‘test.’
Re - 100 years - besides all the nuclear waste we have accumulated, we will have MOUNTAINS of old DEAD BATTERIES - we won’t know what to do with - along with all the scillions of rubber TIRES!
“THE U.S. JUNK-YARD!’ TK.
I hope he makes a fortune.
But in the meantime, take a trip to Japan. Their automakers, including Toyota, have already perfected, and are mass marketing, all electric cars.
When you go to a supermarket in Japan, in your non-polluting electric mobile, their supermarkets already have FREE plug-ins to re-charge your electric mobile, while you shop.
PS The American automobile companies now want several more billions 'to study electric car batteries.'
Hell, they should just fly over to Japan in their corporate jets, and buy some.
PEEWEE - YEP ... isn’t it amazing, how THEY are ahead of us with many technologies? Cars - cameras - phones - healthcare - education - et cetera -
Often wonder if it is all a result of our original importation after WWII - of products stamped - “Made in OCCUPIED JAPAN”?
And don’t forget EUROPE - many countries more advanced with healthcare delivery, medicines and procedures, better ‘fringe benefits’ like France’s lenient work/vacation schedules - and more!
Am often reminded of a comment many years ago, by a Pompous official at our Famous Johns Hopkins University - “We are a Leader - we don’t follow what Others do!” DUH!
Peace, my Friend ... TK.
RE: KOSTRO’S - MATLACK IS BACK! -
PEEWEE - "PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE AMMUNITION!"
SO GLAD THIS YOUNG, OLD FART -
DID NOT FROM US DEPART!
KEEP THE HORSE IN FRONT THE CART -
UPLIFT HIS HAPPINESS AND HEART!
RE: My - WHY ? -
Hmmmm. Lots to think about here, Tom. It is, as you are doubtless well aware, a strongly ingrained tendency in most human beings to grow progressively more cynical and jaded with advancing years--one of the prinicpal consequences of decades of repeatedly observing the apalling faults and foibles of one's fellows, I suppose.
Personally, I myself have become so cynical of my fellow human beings' collective failed potentials that I still think the best thing to do would be to drop 'the Big One' and thereby raze the entire surface of the planet down to the first 5 inches of soil, thus giving Ma Nature another chance to come up with a more satisfactory 'highest evolved sentient life form' (clearly homo sapiens is a failed biochemical experiment, by anyone's standards of comparison).
That sad fact notwithstanding, however, the supreme challenge for us all (as long as we can still draw in a breath) is to accept the fact that the basic rule of all human life is 's**t happens' and try as long as possible to get past this unhappy status quo, as well as we are able. Although I happen to be a non-believer (that is, not a person possessed of any religious faith), I greatly envy the Jewish intellectual who came up with the ultimate existential pragmatism: 'Expect the worst, but hope for the best'. It's the only effective way to survive the terribly depressing ennui that results from all these depressing things you reference.
The only other equally effective solution is to undergo a prefrontal lobotomy. At any rate, you aren't alone in this recitation of your melancholic plaints of life's injustice. I enjoyed reading this and it certainly does provide much to ponder! Aloha mai e!
WOW! Thanks for such a long, and intelligent comment!
It caused me to visit your site, but time was too short for me to read further. "I SHALL RETURN!" Another famous 'line' -
Klatuu barata nikto - back atcha!
While i'm not quite ready to 'nuke' the whole planet, i must confess thoughts of just 'doing' the middle East - might quiet things down for just a tad, and give the descendents of the original 'Hatfields and McCoys' - the ARABS & ISRAELIS - a chance to 'mend their fences' and join together, for once, against a common enemy - US !!!
As Robin Goodfellow was wont to say -
"What Fools These Mortals Be!"
Aloha ... TomKat ...
RE: My - Sound and Sense -
LOL. How much indeed. What does one do when they feel like 2 cents waiting for change? J'nia
J’NIA - Go for Double or Nothing! Tk.
Can man get constipated by drinking Crazy Glue?
EDvard, Ole Brother
DEAR VARD-ARK ...
YES - but this condition can be quickly remedied with a double-dose of Epsom Salts, laced with fingernail polish remover ...
if this fails to get the desired results, try two quarts of Liquid Plumber ...
then, call PEEWEE in the morning!
Nonsense can be replaced with a degree through the use of cents, but I'm not sure cents can buy common sense. Very nice.
Somehow I missed a reference -
to the fact that odors, or scents,
are detected by the olfactory senses,
which does not require many cents,
in order to ‘sniff’ them out - thereby
eliminating any need for common sense
to be subjected to any recompense.
Capice? TomKat ...
RE: My - SHINGLES -
Karen Lynn Vidra, The Texas Tornado
Ouch! Doesn't sound like fun, Tom; I'm sorry you have the shingles! Have heard that's painful! I will say a prayer for you, pray your pain eases. Hope you feel better soon!
(((HUGS))) adn much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(
The piccy is too funny! LOL
KAREN - Thank you Dear - truly appreciate the well wishes and prayer. Tom.
Tom, myself as well as many others got generously showered with Agent Orange by the Nam War Sponsors, leaving a trail of kidney, lever and skin ailments you won't believe. Actually we are fighting for the rights of one of our buddies which such ailments.
It seems that Agent Orange did something to the nerves ends on the skin, which, when you take a shower, bath, go for a swim will produce after a general pain, from 30% to 80% of the skin on your body, which man get with severe 2nd and third degrees burns (yes, though soldier do cry in unbearable pain) that after over forty years, if you want to bath twice a week (because you don't want to be hooked) you need to take a 25mg Valium one hour before you bravely confront the shower.
Those that have had shingles pain will understand some War Veterans, because the Pentagon certainly doesn't!
GEORG - thanks for comments and info -
was on third long paragraph of explanation, when AD server DROPPED ME ... as per usual ...
so my info is out in cyberspace somewhere!
no time now, nor inclination to re-construct - sorry, get PISSED!
A POX ON CONGRESS - MAY ALL THE VETS ILLS TRANSFER TO THEM!
Peace - Tom.
Sorry to hear that. My wife began having "blisters" come up on her back a few years ago. I tried treating it with all sorts of ointments and what not, but they kept getting worse, Finally, after we realized we were spinning our wheels, I took her to the ER. The doctor prescribed enough pills for a week, which was well over $100 and they slowly began to go away. Even after they were gone she still had the "blotches" where they had been and complained of it hurting from time to time. I hope you don't have the lingering effect.
JERRY - thanks for comments -
yeah - they can repeat, almost like sympathy pains ... TK.
AUch.....been down that horrific road about 17 years ago...you are in my prayers my friend!!
Believe me the only thing that cured me was prayer..."hands was laid upon me" by someone (pastor) in church...no jokes!!
TINKA - thank you for support - truly appreciated. Tom.
Hi Tom, You have really experienced the PAIN and SUFFERING that Shingles bring. In June, my Dr. recommended that I take the vaccine to prevent Shingles. Afterwards, I was instructed to keep the injection site covered with a bandaid patch for a few days, to not touch the area or let anyone else get near it. Shingles is highly contageous: I'm so glad I followed by Doctor's instructions. The site (on my arm was itchy) so I used an ice pack over the COVERED area to ease the itchiness at bedtime. After a few days, I was fine. No complications followed. I advise everyone to discuss the Shingles vaccine with their doctor, especially persons 60+ and individuals with chronic illnesses. It's worth it and can save so much pain down the road. Be Well, Tom. :) Brynn
Thanks for comments -
as the 'MAN' said - "This too shall pass!"
I CERTAINLY HOPE SO! Tom.
Been there, done that, and it hurts like hell, not that I'm interested in knowing how much more Hell may hurt, but it does! I waited a week before I went to the doctor and the genius said "If you'd got here when it started we could of cured it." I said "How the hell did I know what it was?" Went to the drug store, bought some Gold Bond Cream and like many other things in life, assured myself that this too shall pass.
DAN - you are a better man than me! I was so distressed with pain and lack of sleep that I was desperate. Tylenol - Ibuprofen - did NOTHING!
The Endocet is the generic version of Percoset, a mixture of 325 mg. of Acetominophen, laced with a small quantity of Oxycodeine - was told it is stronger than Morphine - limited to only 1 pill every 6 hours, for 7 straight days - Warned not to double-up dosage - and yet - this only provides a modicum of temporary relief -
About an hour after ingestion, get sleepy - usually 1 or 2 hours of solid sleep - if lucky, 3 hours - upon awakening - same pain, at same locations, at same degree of hurt. After 5 days of this - nothing has changed, or improved. This fact is disconcerting, to say the least!
Can’t help but wonder what to do next, if the last 2 days do not stop this discomfort. Am tempted to make the last dose a Double - just as an experiment. Is my level of pain tolerance too low? Have no idea, but have put up with the pain of Bursitis in the knees for years now.
TUESDAY, 8/25 IS MY 69TH BIRTHDAY - last year, spent 3 days in the hospital as my celebration - have no desire for a repeat performance now!
Time will tell ... Peace - Tom.
E T Waldron
Tom, my thoughts and prayers are with you, I've had shingles and know well the misery. the only thing helped me was ice packs. I used it constantly, while taking meds doc gave me .Take care and be well soon!...ET
DEAR EILEEN -
Thank you for comments and well wishes - always appreciated!
I also thank God for making me a hard-headed Irishman -
Never EVER give up - NEVER! TomKat ...
I hope you're feeling better soon. Your talent and sense of humor shine through the pain.
LORI - Aaaaaaaw ... you are too kind!
“The pain in Spain falls mainly on my ... Arse!” TK.
Been there, ouch, ouch, and ouch again. Dr. gave me a drug which is suppose to prevent life long neuralgia pain associated with shingles. Seems to have worked. Very expensive tho and have to take early on. Take care my friend. Loose hug, J'nia
J’NIA - thanks for info ... what is the neuralgia pain drug name? tom.
Jackie (Micke) Jinks
No picnic, huh Tom? Had that li'l pox, too few years back. Fortuately, I already had a Dr's appointment (for another matter) and he recognized and fixed me up with the pills and salves and the ice bit. Rash limited to small area, thanks be! You tell of the episode with poetic humor.
Hey, I've been wondering what you were up to...absent from AD too long :o)
Thanks for comments - misery loves company,
Don’cha know? tk.
RE: J’NIA’S - Why Do so Many people Despise the USA? -
J'NIA - 1st things 1st - LOVE THE PIC ...
gives the nickname for our soldiers - "DOG-FACE" a totally new meaning!
if that .45 was pearl-handled, I'd swear it was that ole dog -
Gen. George Patton ...
Now, for the main question - "Why Do So Many People Despise The USA?"
Let me count the ways:
1. Once upon a time, we actually were the biggest & best of everything!
Ergo - ENVY!
2. On 12/12/2000 - WE THE SHEEP allowed 9 ARSEHOLES to let a bigger ARSEHOLE STEAL THE ELECTION! See following copy & paste:
“In law, a per curiam decision (or opinion or per curiam) is a ruling issued by an appellate court with multiple judges in which the decision rendered was made by the court (or at least, a majority of the court) acting as a whole, anonymously. In contrast to regular opinions, the decision does not list the individual judge responsible for authoring the decision.”
A BOTCHED DEBACLE!
GEE - wonder how many of these 9 were in Daddy Bush's "Back Pocket"?
3. “This decision allowed Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris's previous certification of George W. Bush as the winner of Florida's electoral votes to stand. Florida's 25 electoral votes gave Bush, the Republican candidate, 271 electoral votes, defeating Democratic candidate Al Gore, who ended up with 266 electoral votes (with one D.C. elector abstaining). A majority (270) of the electoral votes is needed to win the Presidency or Vice Presidency in the Electoral College.”
THIS MEANS THAT ONLY 5 ELECTORAL 'STOLEN' VOTES - allowed the Texas' Governor's OWN BROTHER, JEB BUSH - the Florida Governor to 'scratch his bro's back!
GEE - just how powerful was/is the BUSH DYNASTY? ALL OILMEN!
4. Then, after 9-11 - most of the world felt sorry for us US - excepting, of course, about a ZILLION ARAB/MUSLIMS WHO CELEBRATED THE EVENT WITH JUBILATION, FLAG-BURNING, PARADES ...
5. Then, the lying, crooked ARSEHOLE sold Congress a bill of goods on WMD - we all know how that turned out! 2003 INVASION OF IRAQ -
6. Then, WE THE SHEEP RE-ELECTED THE ARSHOLE IN 2004 -
5 MORE YEARS OF 'BUSH-SHIT!' EXCUSES - EXPENSES - CORPORATIONS TURNING HUGE WAR-MONGERING PROFITS!
HALIBURTON CONTRACTS - GMC HUMMERS, ET CETERA! GEE - what happened to all of GMC’s BIG BUCKEROOS from that? Did they do a
“WRITE-DOWN” against Earnings, just like all the big Stock Market Companies did?
7. Without belaboring all the BULL-SHIT ECONOMY DETAILS - WE THE SHEEP-SHIT PEOPLE just stood around, with our thumbs up our rectums and watched our entire economy go 'down the crapper' - with the rest of the world following suit - playing "Follow The Leader!" DUH!
8. Then, instead of IMPEACHING - BUSH, CHENEY, RUMSFELD, ROWE, and all their other cronies, and PROSECUTING them all for WAR CRIMES - WE, THE BACKBONE-LESS SHEEP-SHIT TREADERS just played 'SWITCH' with our thumbs, and idly watched all the CONGRESSIONAL CROOKS just twiddle their thumbs - ETHICS COMMITTEE? SURE! SURE!
9. Then, we finally do something BRILLIANT - and elect the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT - who Half think is a new JESUS, while the other Half think he is BEEZLEBUB HIMSELF - and trust me - "The Jury is Still Out" on this one!
10. Finally - "My Country 'Tis of Thee, Sweet Land of Liberty - of Thee I Sing! Land Where my Fathers Died, Land of the Pilgrim's Pride ..."
OUR FOREFATHERS ARE TURNING OVER IN THEIR GRAVES!
WHY ARE WE DESPISED? BECAUSE AMERICANS WERE CASTRATED BY CORPORATIONS AND CROOKED POLITICIANS - ERGO - WE NO LONGER HAVE ANY BALLS!
J'NIA - as per usual, all of this diatribe is being saved, and will appear again later, in 3 H - P 7 ...
GOD BLESS THE MAPLE LEAF - LONG MAY IT WAVE !!!
PEACE - TOM.
RE: My - Sound and Sense -

Common Sense? Didn't Thomas Paine write about this over 200 years ago? Shoud be manditory reading for some...every year. (oh, not you included :o) Another great read, friend Tom...
Blessings and Love - Micke
MICKE - you are so right! ... and yes, even I should re-read it - Refreshment abounds everywhere therein!
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of men and women."
The Crisis, 1776, Introduction to ‘COMMON SENSE.’
Thanks for comments - Tom.
RE: Kalikiano Kalei’s - Zipping Flies with Papa Hemingway -
A poignant recount of childhood memories. To have been in the shadow of such a renowned personage, at such a ripe young age, was most fortunate. Although, as you said, not fully understood and appreciated at the time, the memory as recounted years later can be more fully relished.
'Zipping Flies' is a most appropriate title for this true tale, and quite believable, to a fan of Papa's. As I am a tad older than you, born 1940, was first exposed to Hemingway's "A Farewell to Arms" in high school, and got hooked. In '62 in college, had to read "The Old Man And The Sea" - later, having to work full-time and attending night school, by the time of graduation in June, 1970 - I had finished reading all of his more famous works, and had seen every film made from them.
I well remember Gary Cooper - 'Coop' starring in "For Whom the Bell Tolls" - but your recounting of the comraderie of these two 'giants' in personal life, now attaches more significance to understanding their relationship.
And, as far as that title is concerned, I learned many years later that this title was not Papa's original - it was, in fact, 'borrowed' from John Donne's classic poem, written many years earlier. Last year, I recited excerpts from it, as an eulogy at a young nephew's funeral - there was not a dry eye in the large audience when I finished.
Suffice it to say that you have had a much more memorable and different childhood than I. But I have learned that each and every human being has some good stories to tell, but most never do so.
Thanks for sharing - Tom.
