The word “Discord” is defined as: conflict, disunity, and friction. Discord in the body is established when the presence of conflict, disguised as stress or disharmony are maintained within our emotional aspect of our being. Disunity is experienced when we harbor feelings of indifference and/or separation from all that is. Friction is yet another term to describe feelings of resentment, hostility and anger. The body aspect of our being suffers from discord when we implement any emotions that contradict the flow of our natural composite: that of love, compassion, purity, harmony and peace.
In order to understand how discord can greatly contribute to illness in the body, let us explore a simplified example. A sink is a solid component that supports the natural flow of water through the assistance of pipes. If we careless and allow “residue” to fall through the entry of the drainage, eventually a sink will display “symptoms.” The natural flow of water will be interrupted and the sink will become clogged.
Many of us will take immediate action. We would call a plumber and him remove the obstacles that are clogging the drainage. Some of us would simply purchase a compound to break down the blockage within the pipe. These alternatives serve as examples of what many of us do when we experience discord in the body: We either visit a physician or simply take an over-the-counter remedy that caters to the symptoms we are having in our bodies.
Still, the most important action we can take in resolving a clogged sink—(discord in the body) is to establish what was THE ROOT CAUSE of the problem and vow to not repeat the violation! In the case of a clogged sink, we should insure ourselves not to allow any residue to enter the pipes! For, if we do, we are sure to experience problems! So, too, is it with our sacred bodies. When we allow residue…the entry of negative emotions to enter our sacred bodies, we create blockage in our emotional and physical being. We prevent the natural flow of positive energy to permeate through our being and blur our spiritual essence.
Our spirit, ever-knowing of our emotional state, gently begins to speak to us. We begin to suffer physical and emotional symptoms that are truly messages for us to CLEAN UP our residue. If we are conscious of our spirit’s messages, we can be successful in releasing the emotional blockages from our sacred bodies and unveil wellness. If we are not conscious of the loving messages of our spirit, we can begin to manifest more symptoms and eventually develop a specified illness in the body.
Many of us have a difficult time accepting the idea that physical illness is caused by negative thinking and emotional buildup. Some are quick to point out that if illness is caused by emotional blockage, then, why is it that infants—not yet able to experience the spectrum of positive and negative emotions, are born with devastating physical disabilities and illnesses. While it may seem that this compelling question uncovers a deep hole in the reality that most illness is caused by emotional discord, many fail to recognize that many spiritual beings are born into the physical realm with illness for a higher purpose—that will be revealed in sacred time.
Many of us fail to see the bigger picture in the manifestation of illness surrounding infants. While it is truly heart wrenching to witness the disabilities and illnesses that surround many children, we must objectively and spiritually look for the sacred opportunities that are being presented in these situations. Perhaps, in entering the physical realm with an illness, an infant child is offering his/her parents the gifts to unveil courage, strength and compassion. Perhaps, through the illness of an infant child, a parent chooses to become an advocate for a cause and reach out to countless of other parents, in order to offer guidance and support.
And these examples are not only limited to infants. Many saints and sages throughout history, manifested physical disabilities and illnesses and served as inspiring examples of how to an individual could be a guiding force and example to others…empowered by their faith and acknowledgment in their divine identity, many saints and spiritual teachers have contributed greatly to spiritual awareness in spite of their physical illnesses. Perhaps, it was for this very reason that they manifested illness in the body!
So, the question remains. How are we to determine if discord in the body is being manifested by discord or by divine purpose? In order to answer this question, it is necessary to seek deeply within as ask yourself:
· Do I feel like a victim? · Am I harboring any negative emotions within my consciousness? · Do I blame others for my experiences? For my illness? For my life? · Is life controlling my experiences? · Am I a divine creator? Do I create my reality? · Do I truly desire to be well, in mind, body and spirit? · What, if anything, am I being and practicing in order to unveil wholeness?
You see, a spiritual being, who is conscious of his/her divine identity, would immediately conduct a emotional cleansing exercise at the first sign of physical discord. Knowing that his/her true nature is one of love and light, a spiritual being, would strive to release any emotional blockages that would blur his/her spiritual nature. A devoted spiritual being, recognizes that all of humanity is comprised of spiritual essence. That in spite of the appearances of contrary display of attributes that spirit resides within all that is. A spiritual being also recognizes that we are all traveling on different levels of spiritual awareness. Thus, if others are not yet experiencing spiritual consciousness, it does not give us the right to judge them.
A devoted spiritual student strives to live a lovingly detached life experience. Instead of taking things personally, a spiritual being recognizes that he/she does not need to get approval from others in order to feel complete and whole. Wholeness can only be achieved by exploring our divine selves. Once we recognize our divine identity, we do not need external forces to experience completeness. We appreciate the love and support of others, but do not need it.
A spiritual being recognizes that the body is a prime sacred system that allows us to experience life through the five senses. And, as such, the body is constantly communicating with us, letting us know if we are operating from our divine spiritual foundation, or, if we have stepped out of focus and allowed external influences to touch our being.
Yes. We can live a blissful and healthy life in the physical realm. In truth, our short time in the physical realm was truly intended to be one in which we could experience the joys of life; of savoring its’ beauty and splendor.
Our goal in the physical realm is to recognize our divine identity as spiritual beings, having a human experience. We accomplish this by not emphasizing our existence in the external world, but by living in the world, but not being of it! In other words, to be a spiritual being, having a human experience! By relying on the only source that can insure our happiness and blissfulness…by maintaining a natural flow of divine energy in our being and preventing blockages in the form of negative emotions to enter our realm.
So, why not begin today? Look at your life today and explore the wellness of your body. Are you experiencing discord or disharmony in your life? Instead of reaching for a temporary remedy, strive to uncover the ROOT cause of your blockages. Vow to do a complete cleansing of your emotional blockages…release any and all emotional clutters, past and present and begin to reap from the benefits of a blissful and healthy life.
