I see a need, I reach in to deliver and realize that there is nothing left to give.
It Breaks My Heart…
Everywhere I look I see the needs of so many. I see people of all ages, races and religions struggling to survive. It truly breaks this simple heart of mine…I mean I have tried, I really have. I have often paid a stranger bill at dinner; I have paid for their groceries and all this with them unaware of how it came to pass. I have given of myself until I am give out.
Yet still their number increase in a world that becomes more self absorbed every day. I see a young couple struggling to come up with enough change to buy 3.00 plus kerosene just to keep warm at night.
I see an old man not have enough to buy a loaf of bread. I slip the difference to the cashier and a family stays warm and an old man eats another day.
I don’t know what has come of me, I now find myself buying when I cannot buy for myself. I buy cat food and travel to where the strays hang out and feed them. I weep inwardly when I see and animal crushed by a car and I find my heart reaching out to the needs of many. I can’t go on like this for I have given until I have given out.
I have missed a lot of work this year due to the economy being like the economy is. My pockets are now empty where once bills filled their lining. I see a need, I reach in to deliver and realize that there is nothing left to give. My heart breaks once again. How can I help others I ask, when I can’t even help myself? Why is there so much need? Why do so many people struggle to survive? Why does it hurt this way?
I now that the Christmas season has come and gone and I know that many to good cause did give…but there remains fifty-one weeks and the spirit of giving takes a back seat until another year. I don’t know what else to do, I give not expecting anything, I give because there is a human need, I give because I love.
When I told Leah my wife that things had to change and that I was going to resolve to harden my heart to all things great or small, she replied with a simple “don’t” …”you can’t”….I guess she is right, but I still know not the answer as the need continues to knock on my hearts door.
God Bless us all the coming year…God Bless those in need.

i do think there are those among us whose ministry is not always what others might view as necessary, i was actually told by a minister's wife that i would have a lot more money to give to the church if i would 'stop feeding useless animals'
i didn't, do what you can, where and when you can, a crust given in love is more worthy than pounds given for show |

| You have done, what so many can not. Two thousand years ago, a man said, "Sell all of your possessions and give the money to the poor and follow me." You did, and your reward shall be great. For a day will come when that man will tell you, "Did you not feed me when I was hungry, did not give me drink when I was thirsty, did you not cloth me when I was naked, did you not nurse me when I was ill, did you not comfort me in my sorrow? These things you have done for the least of your brethren, you have done for me." God Bless! |

Allen, I believe there are no easy anwers to your pain filled pen. I too, have helped when and where I can but sadly there is never enough. I truly understand the angst in your pen and wish there was more I could do, as I'm sure you do to. And I concur, God bless those in need.
Peace,
Dan |

What is even more heartbreaking is the fact that Jesus himself said,
"The poor you will have with you always." You are to be commended for giving what you can. That is all any of us can do.
God Bless,

| You sir are a magnanimous human being...I have never gone to the extreme that you have, but I have tried to help every now and then...either I don't maybe allow myself to see the suffering you see, or in this area it isn't as easily seen. Then again most folks don't wear their pain where the rest can see it...I wish that this year upcoming that "things" change for all of us...Find Peace, Ed, Rene & Rufuz |

Bless you for your gentle heart. So many of us turn the othe way - were we all like you then there would be so little suffering left in the world.
But as long as we are content to spend trillions of dollars and euros each year on weapons and wars, there is little hope I'm afraid. As long as we rely on a deficient state to do our duty for us, there is no hope.
The world needs you.
