And I could not possibly consider, at this point of my writings, a complete epilogue to the book of 2006 or a truly promising prologue to 2007’s tome, that do not include the expression of my gratitude to each and every one of you...
Book of the Year
The last page of one more year is about to be written, and here we are, dear friends and fellow authors, already poising our pens to begin writing the next one! It is exciting and thoroughly stimulating to anticipate each of the chapters that will follow, and although a certain anxiety may find its way into such creative blend, it really is up to us not to allow it to “cramp our fingers” and “block the flow of our muse”, no matter how challenging the circumstances of our personal and collective creative environment may be. I’m sure that, as it has happened while writing the books of our previous years, we all will have moments, as we go about our next compositions, of fatigue, of depression, of skepticism – moments when we’ll be tempted to conceptually throw paper, pen, and maybe even ourselves out of our writer’s den window, or, in other cases, to just walk out of the door and let our half scribbled pages fade in there and in the dust to oblivion, because all will seem hopeless and worthless. Well, dear ones… when those moments come – and, to most of us, they most probably will – may we remind ourselves that even if we do throw everything and ourselves out of the window, or bang the door shut on everything, this author attribute thing will never let us off the hook anyway – and no, this is not a creepy or haunting perspective, it is, rather, a very liberating one, if we think of how wonderful it is to be – and not to rely on anyone else such privilege – the AUTHOR of one’s own book of each year, and thus to be able to make of it what we want it to be! As one who is constantly reminding herself of this, I would like to wish each one and all of you the inspiration to make of your book of next year a masterpiece – as well as the determination and assurance to never allow others to dictate its lines to you, but also the resolve, open-mindedness, encouragement, awareness and insight that will make of each one of you, of us, a valuable and constructive CO-AUTHOR of next year’s collective opus. And I could not possibly consider, at this point of my writings, a complete epilogue to the book of 2006 or a truly promising prologue to 2007’s tome, that do not include the expression of my gratitude to each and every one of you, for, in so many ways, having contributed to make my “work” a constant thrill!
With my deepest affection, and many {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
