I have often spoken to people about remaining calm, cool and collected. More often, I have said over and over again to stay your course. This week I had two people tell me to stay my course. That is a very interesting turn of events!
Shipmates, it is not easy to stay on track when your world has been challenged. An example might be going on a job interview when you have never gone before. Or perhaps you are trying to move into a new industry and don't know how the interview process. Another example might be having to speak publicly. We all face financial challenges so perhaps it is just a matter of attempting to stay on budget. No matter the challenge, I have held to the conviction that we can overcome. I believe that more today than ever before.
Facing new uncharted waters is always a challenge. It does not matter what we are doing, we must learn the ropes quickly. One of the things I suggest is keeping the mouth shut and eyes and ears wide open. Challenges are many in our life. Thus, we must learn to sail ever forward all the while dealing with a myriad of issues that seem ongoing and never ending. We can do this in good order and with God-speed if we stay our course.
We all get rattled; this is a truth. We all get scared, fearful and worried; this is a truth. The object I think is to understand some very personal things that continue to guide us through life:
We are a good person at heart, mind & soul!
We need to understand there are people around us that love us and care for us.
We should realize that as we travel through life, we touch a wide variety of people.
We also should remember that while we may not know it, we are very important.
While these things might seem simplistic, when our world gets turned upside down, they become the most important catalyst to the frustration and non-understanding in our life. While we can't guess at what will challenge us next, we can build a hold full of positive ballast that will help us weather the storm.
