Billjr writes "Now we are nearing the end of 2002 we must look to the future and 2003 as a stepping-stone into a new world of law enforcement activity. True, there are many law enforcement individuals involved in the various UN affiliated and UN sponsored law enforcement activities around the world.

This is a big self-sacrifice on the part of many individuals from different countries and is all too often not appreciated by different groups who have different interests. All too often the job is one of frustration and difficulties caused by local environments, but for most UNCIVPOL individuals, no matter where they are, they have a job that is probably one of the most educational and beneficial from the standpoint of general law enforcement.

All too often we forget about the things that go on in the world population and without being specific about any one place, law enforcement locally is one thing and UN bilateral law enforcement is something of another world. One has to be somewhat bilingual, well educated in the law enforcement arena and in general, an honest, loyal and dedicated individual not only to himself but also to the world and in the environment he or she is serving.

Hopefully, all those involved in these UN policing projects will have a good deal of valuable experience and become part of a future international police force, which is something that will be
needed in 2003. In order to combat the threat of world terrorism, which is what we are dealing with, a unified international police force will be needed that can be deployed anywhere in the world at anytime by the UN.

Hopefully these individuals of merit will be given all the necessary tools they need to get the job done, stay healthy, remain disease free from biological and related terrorist tools of the trade, and be able to continue to function 100 percent as good law enforcement individuals.

The forgotten hero’s, are of course the family members of such an individual that allows himself or herself to be displaced into an unknown world of events that could be extremely difficult – the real hero is the Wife or Husband, back in the homeland who sticks by their spouse during such terms of duty, stationed in a foreign land. Just like being in the military, except there is much more danger in performing the tasks of civilian law enforcement than in the military sector. There is no doubt that the members of the UN Civilian Police Force deserve a lot more credit than they are getting from the world sector for sure, and now that there is the threat of terrorism from all places in the world, there job will be even more important and more intense.

Always remember, the officer on the street is the best, most threatened and vulnerable to all the worst of the world criminal elements aside from his or her superior officer. By all means – never forget about biological warfare, it is here to stay. And above all remember the fact that there is enough “Unlawful Law Enforcement” in the world to make all the “Good Law Enforcement” be forgotten. Good Law Enforcement and Good Law Enforcers are hard to come by and the UNCIVPOL should be proud of the fact that they are internationally one of the best and should always be a part of global society.
