An article published in www.riroads.com about Vampires in the state of Rhode Island in 1700 and 1800's. Done for Halloween back a bit and it still is good!!

An article published in www.riroads.com about Vampires in the state of Rhode Island in 1700 and 1800's. I can't post the article here at AD, but here is the link to the article and the opening paragraph.Rhode Island History -- Inspiration for Horror!By Diane C. HundertmarkAh, October in Rhode Island. Clear crisp windswept nights, perfect weather for inspiring just the right sort of Halloween spirit. Still, if you are looking for something more to get you into the proper mood, you need look no further then some of the quiet towns of Rhode Island to find your inspiration. These are the very same places that many researchers say Bram Stoker drew some of his ideas for "Dracula."....   Enjoy this once again!!.

I FIRST GOT INTO RHODE ISLANDS HISTORY OF VAMPIRES WHEN I FOUND OUT MY UNCLE LIVES 5 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE GRAVESITE OF NELLIE VAUGHN WHEN I FIRST WENT TO VISIT THE SITE I DISCOVERED THAT THE GRAVE WAS NO LONGER STANDING.TODAY ME AND MY FAMILY ARE GOING TO VISIT MERCY BROWNS.

Strong one here -- being that I visited New England, I can see where the gothic would have its roots in New England. I wanted to do something similar about the Midwest but that is going to be harder because it has a history that is recently quite macabre. Living in Illinois, you'd hear the stories about people cutting other people open for their infants in a ritualistic nature. A Charles Manson type of murder then the freakish suicide stories you hear over here about people laying on the rails allowing the train to decapitate them.
The most macabre of them would have to be where I grew up at in DuPage County -- on my street a woman was shot five times and found charred beyond reconition. Then the one that was close to me -- all too close because the person I went to school with did the killing of a cab driver. That this would be some of the true crime that is over here.
