The comments on Amazon peaked. The tone was angry from those who have been raped, to those who wanted to voice their opinions, to threatening Amazon. The customers expressed their disgust. Others looked to find a solution in the First Amendment Rights.
There was talk about whether or not a person has a right to choose objectionable material. The controversial book: The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-lover’s Code of Conduct by Philip R. Greaves II dominated the media and the internet.
It is no surprise to me that Pedophiles would attempt to assert their rights as child lovers. When we focus on sexual preferences as an issue in our society were we blind to think that Pedophiles would sit quiet and not raise their voices too?
Apparently, our lawmakers didn’t think that far ahead. No doubt there is a problem with child lovers preying on children. I would not want any child to go through what I have gone through, but this is not over, sadly to say, for our children, and the humans who are self-serving and pleasure seeking.
Having been a victim of sexual abuse, I am concerned about any book, television, or internet promotion of ways to exploit innocent children. What is also disturbing, the book’s aim is to cultivate the relationship in a way that if caught the person could avoid a stiffer penalty.
Exposure to sex early became my worst nightmare. It strips emotions, respect, value, etc. No matter how manipulative the Pedophile the child knows it’s wrong and lives in a pool of guilt. My grandfather used money to coerce me into sex as a 5-year old. The money was to ease his conscience because he too knew it was wrong.
I had mixed feelings until I read until I read an excerpt someone posted from the book. It was sexually explicit and would not be something I would have purchased, or read. As I read through the comments I feared for this person’s life. Based on the heated responses I hope it doesn’t blind some mother or victim to harm this gentleman.
Anyone can publish anything today. That is their right, as long as it takes place between two consenting adults. But when adults prey on innocent children for their sexual pleasure, to groom them into lovers, I disagree. Any book which teaches adults to prey on children I take issue with. I also take issue with movies rated PG, casting children using profanity.
Amazon, thank you, for being willing to pull this book. The author will find another way but for now this medium is closed.
