What is a writers round?
A writers round is when four or five writers get together to co author a "story" for fun. There is no structure or plot, and no one is in charge of the story line. it's usually done strictly for fun and practice.
First one writer starts the story creating a couple of characters and some type incident or event. ie., Tom, Steve and Mary find themselves in a life boat after their cruise ship just sunk.
The first writer writes maybe a half a chapter,Then the second writer takes over and continues the story, adding characters and situations. Then the next writer takes over etc.
Since there is really no story line, the characters can travel anywhere, go back and forth to any time period, or even leave the planet. You can have atomic bombs go off in frying pans in peoples' kitchens, people attacked by polar bears in the Gobi Dessert, or characters who can turn themselves into turnips and roll up hill, if you like.
How does the group end the round?
Well, since the story becomes ridiculous, makes no sense, and is totally unbelievable after a while, the traditional way to end it is to say it was all a dream or...All of the characters were actually dead.
Try it some time, it's actually a lot of fun. Who knows, you might even get it on TV for couple of years and make a few bucks...Before viewers catch on.
