My late father was a cleric who also cut the hair of his elderly congregation, on request. This is one such request for his services from

Dear Mr Caldwell,
Among all the claims the postman brings to the Padre for his services, I doubt if any are so barbarous as this present.
Do you remember that a week or two ago, when I made an unwilling display of my excessive wealth of hair on scalp and chin you offered to relieve me of the burden?
The harvest is now at hand, and the times are ripe for you to implement that promise, whenever it may suit your convenience.
It is arranged that I shall go on Monday first to stay for a time with friends in Glasgow, and it does not seem seemly that I should invade the great city in the appearance of the last aboriginal of Bishopton.
If then the sciszzors are sharp and the mind is willing, your kindly aid will be welcomed whenever you can conveniently come.
