Easy Photo Books using two new programs that are smart, intuitive, user friendly, and free.
Easy Photo Essays

Tech is wonderful because it disperses so many useful forms of sharing life and experiences world wide for what passes as free these days. That is, the equipment and cost to participate are cheap, readily available, and easy to use. I've been following this tech trail as a user from the beginning. The first Apple computer was a kit. I didn't buy one of those, but I bought the funny plastic box Apple computer that was their next model and I've been home computing every since.
Easy Photo Essays is just the latest morph of my interest in family history shared with words and pictures. I've made a bunch of them, and have written about how to do them using a computer and the internet. Now I'm using two new programs, Nvu and FileZilla, which are free open source packages that have been recently released.
The topic is that Pat and I are 50 Years Married come September 19, 2006. We now live in Florida, USA and our family are still in New Hampshire and Vermont USA. 1500 miles away. We are now unable to travel due to medical reasons and both Pat and I and our families want to celebrate our happy lucky good fortune with as many family and friends as possible. Hence, this photo book now to start the Wedding Anniversary Season, a happy lucky event.
Nvu is a editor program that writes in text and saves to html code. It allows one to include pictures and other media just like any web page. For my project I chose just text and pictures. I found the program intuitive, but I've been banging computer keys for a long time. However, I am only a user, not a technician.
FileZilla is a ftp program. It stuffs your html up on a server where it can be accessed by any computers linked to the internet.I will also print out this essay as a booklet of text and pictures so I can snail mail to family and friends that do not use computers.
Here are the links.

Good luck. Give it a try. Ask questions.
