The Family asked  me to speak at my father-in-laws funeral. Here is what I said and a video I made in his honour.

Earlin Harvey

                      I first met Earlin when I was 17 years old and Peg and I started dating. I was driving a truck in Halifax. Before I met Peg. Cy and I had been friends while going to school in Grade 10 at Hants North. I worked with Earlin in his Christmas tree business every fall and even after I joined the military when I was 19 I would plan my leave in the fall to work with Earlin during the Christmas tree season. When you work with someone you get to know them their good points and their bad. Earlin had many faults as we all do but he was also a product of his own upbringing and the times he grew up in. I can say those years working with Earlin were some of the best years of my life and I learned a lot from him. He always treated me well and he was always trying to make a dollar. He was a character and he was certain he was going to be a millionaire .
                   When we were younger we would all make fun of Earlin and his dreams of being rich as I’m sure our kids think the same way about myself and Cy with our schemes and efforts. Now as we gather here today to pay tribute to Earlin  I have come to realize that being a millionaire or being successful in life is not as much about the money or assets you acquire over a lifetime.  Those things remain behind when you leave this world. The true assets in life that you carry on into heaven can be summed up in one word and that is LOVE. I went alone to visit Earlin before he left us and told him I loved him and that the best years of my life were working with him in the woods. I told him to get a tree lot started in Heaven because I’d be coming behind him looking for work.
                 As far as Earlin being a millionaire. I have watched as his family made sure that Earlin went to Heaven with a million dollars worth of LOVE and you see love is the only currency that can be used in Heaven.So you can rest assured Heaven has a new millionaire thanks to the Love of the Harvey family for Earlin . I watched as you showered him with Love and Affection in his final days and you all made me proud that I married a Harvey and you made Earlin one the happiest angels in Heaven.
