White Light Meditation With the Ascended Masters
By John P. Johnston
The practice of meditation is the single most important discipline for anyone dedicated to a life of service. Service is the very nature of the Soul, and anyone who aspires to the reality of the Soul must practice the art of meditation. The goal of all meditation is the sacrifice of personal goals and desires, thereby creating an avenue of descent for the Life of the Soul. This involves the purification of the three lower vehicles of consciousness: physical/etheric, emotional, and mental. Those vehicles are purified through a life dedicated to some ideal that lifts the personality to higher forms of expression. On the physical level this involves a healthy diet, regular exercise, and plenty of sunshine. The sun is absolutely essential for a healthy, vital etheric body, the underlying atomic structure that energizes cellular matter. On the emotional level purification manifests as control over one’s emotional reactions, including attachment to material possessions, activities, and other people. On the mental level purification is achieved when concentration is developed to such a degree that the student can remain focused on a single concept or object for a sustained period of time. When the three lower vehicles are purged and stabilized the student is ready to make contact with the Soul through the antahkarana, the magnetic link joining the personality to the Soul.
Mindfulness as practiced by the Buddhists represents an excellent method of meditation, one that purifies the lower vehicles, but one that does not build the antahkarana, unless the practitioner avoids the experience of emptiness, but instead moves beyond emptiness to wholeness. It’s just not the case that behind the illusion of the ego there is no one who thinks and acts. The Soul thinks and the Soul acts, but not through the use of the lower mind, unless the lower mind happens to be the best tool for the job at hand. Hence, even the lower vehicles serve God’s Plan, and therefore they too are real when appropriated by the Soul. They just aren’t controlled by the personality, which some practitioners interpret as emptiness. Move past emptiness to wholeness, and know that God Himself, whether planetary, solar, or cosmic, has a personality, a Soul, and a Spirit, but on a scale beyond human comprehension.
A method of meditation well-suited to the Western mind, and promoted by the Ascended Masters is White Light Meditation. The student visualizes White Light descending from above, wrapping the body left to right, crown to toe. The Light establishes a sphere of energy, protecting the one who meditates from any negativity present in the surrounding environment. However, it is best not to think of the sphere as a protective barrier, but as a wonderfully uplifting reservoir of spiritual energy.
Next the student visualizes White Light pouring into the crown. Over time the Light links the brain with the Soul, creating a magnetic field that simultaneously electrifies the brain cells, pacifies the atoms of the emotional body, and reorganizes the subatomic particles comprising the mental body. This results in the alignment of the three lower vehicles with the vibration of the Soul, rendering the personality receptive to impression.
When the three lower vehicles are purified and aligned, the student can move on to the practice of radiating Light. Visualize White Light radiating in all directs from your center. Allow the Light to permeate every cell and atom of your being, and then send it forth to friends and family, ultimately embracing the whole of humanity. Next, send Light to current world conditions, and then direct it to world leaders in every field of human expression. Finally, wrap the Earth in Light, sending forth your blessing to the planet.
When the student has made a conscious choice to serve God’s Plan for humanity, the visualization of White Light will gradually purify the three lower vehicles, ultimately infusing the personality with the higher consciousness of the Soul. After linking with the Soul the student is free to meditate upon any of the following suggestions:
- Who am I? This question pierces the illusion of the ego as a separate entity unconnected to the Whole, revealing instead the Divine Being.
- Meditation upon the virtues. Contemplation upon any of the virtues develops that quality within the personality.
- The radiation of Light. The Light of the Soul merges with the Light of the universe, thereby expanding the mind, rendering it receptive to abstract thought.
- Meditation upon the Soul. Begin by sending a continuous stream of Love to the Creator. At the peak of devotion make a conscious choice to ascend into the abstract mind of the Soul, thereby merging Love and Wisdom.
- Working with color. Gold is known to promote wisdom, while yellow stimulates the intellect. Both green and royal purple heal the body, while violet promotes multilevel healing and adjustment to environmental conditions. Ruby red promotes Love and Compassion, while pink balances personal relationships. Blue promotes peace, whether the sky blue of the Soul, or the deep blue of Spirit. Orange heals the nervous system, while the green of springtime synchronizes the lower vehicles, bringing them into alignment with the Soul.
- Meditation upon the Sacred Word. Chanting the Aum both purifies and rebuilds the three lower vehicles, while at the same time opening a gateway to the Soul.
- Using affirmations. Commence by placing both motive and intention in the Law of Right Action, thereby preventing the occurrence of unwanted karma. The Law of Right Action aligns your effort with the Will of God. Affirmations are more effective when color is simultaneously utilized.
- Meditation upon the Master. Profess your Love, and when you feel the Master’s Love entering your heart, return that Love tenfold, again and again.
