What has happened to California?
I remember coming to California when I was just a child. As I sit back I have looked over the years; the first thought that popped up in my head was; what happened to this State? We are far from being the Golden State anymore. Which means, we have become the Bond State, in kind words, the I.O.U. State. We are now robbing the poor to pay for Paul’s Mansion on the mountain somewhere. Our college students, who rely on grants are now faced with a 10% hike fee. Yet, they will not raise their grants. So how are they supposed to pay for their education? The state write a letter to these students saying and I quote; Thank you for your letter and concern regarding the proposed 10% fee hike for the Cal State University System. I want to assure you that your input is important. There are on going budget discussions and cuts and fee are still part of the total process. I do not sit on the budget committee nor am I part of the final budget negotiations; however I hope the governor will consider all options in keeping higher education affordable for all Californians. Signed: One of our State Senators The students who are hoping for answer are not getting a response as you can see from above so why write a letter in the first place. They throw the ball back to the governor, which this a leading me to believe what is our State Senators doing? I watch the news at night; the city of Los Angeles has 50 square blocks of homeless people living on the street now. 50 square blocks... people that is a crying shame, I get tired of hearing that those people just don’t want to work. Have you been watching the news lately to where the hospitals are dumping patients on the streets because they have no insurance? Why is this California? But yet, I watch our political leaders on the news smiling and saying; “California is doing fine.” We have made great progress in our city. The mentally ill that are on the streets of Los Angeles and other city have no place to go. So what do we do, again budget cuts? To find a job is next to impossible unless you are willing to work for Walmart and you still need to apply for food stamps? But who wants to hire a homeless person? Person with disabilities only get $856.00 dollars a month to live on. Now God forbid if they own a piece of a car. There is also the gas prices and insurance on the car. They might get lucky and have section 8 to where they live in a slum area and the landlord doesn't care about anything except the money they collect. So 65% of them are living in the street of our great State. “Welcome to California.” Our Governor has asked our State legislators for 7 billion dollars to build yet another State prison? We have 32 prisons in this State which are stuffed like a can of sardines. But yet the ones that should be in prison are not, for example, the child molesters. They do about ninety days in jail and are back out on our street doing what they do best, taking and abusing our children. So we cut from other programs just to build another prison. “Wake up California!" What is wrong with this picture? The state says that crime has gone down? Not when I see children getting shot in the head for no reason. They are trying to put a band-aide on a time bomb. If the prison system would stop the B.S. about that there is no money to help an inmate when they get out; just maybe we would not have so many that keep going back. We have cut again, all programs that would help a person when they do get out to lead a normal life. With all of the cuts in education, health care, and housing, we have the money to take from the programs and build another prison for the State of California. This is call an I.O.U.. The easy way to bail out of a problem. If Paul would come down from his high mansion on that mountain and look at reality and stop sugar coating what is really going on with this State, we might have a chance. If not then the I.O.U. will get bigger and the State Of California will not be the Golden State anymore. A religious group came to my door the other morning. I opened up the door. The first thing that was said is; “Do you know Jesus is coming back?” My response was; “Isn’t he kind of late?” How much more does the world need to see before it is too late?
